  • Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ 5G Tipped to Come With Snapdragon 865 Chipset, 50-MP Sony IMX-7 Camera Lens

The Oppo Reno 5 series is expected to launch on December 10 including the Oppo Reno 5 and the Oppo Reno 5 Pro. Last week, few of the Oppo Reno 5 series’ key specifications, as well as pricing details had appeared on the China Telecom website. Now, a third supposed smartphone in the series, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has reportedly leaked, hinting at the smartphone’s key specifications. Separately, another recent report talks about the specifications of the alleged Oppo Reno 5 4G.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ leak comes courtesy of a tipster going by the name WHYLAB on Weibo. According to him, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ has a similar design to the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G and the camera is where the main difference lies. The Weibo post said that that Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ will have the world’s first 50-megapixel Sony IMX-7 sensor as the primary shooter. Further, it says that the secondary camera on the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ will be a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a third 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Further, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is allegedly powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset. In comparison, the vanilla Oppo Reno 5 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 765 5G SoC and the Oppo Reno 5 Pro is said to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ chipset. The tipster claims that Oppo will launch the smartphones on December 10.

Another tipster who goes by the name TheLeaks on Twitter has allegedly revealed the specifications of the 4G variant of the Oppo Reno 5. According to the tweet, the Oppo Reno 5 4G will sport a 6.43-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the smartphone is said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC. The tipster also hints that the Oppo Reno 5 4G may come with a quad rear camera setup including a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and two 2-megapixel sensors. Further, the smartphone is speculated to come with a 4,310mAh battery with support for 50W fast charging.

  • Qualcomm to launch a new 7-series Snapdragon chipset in Q1 2021

The new 7-series chipset by Qualcomm is expected to be the main competitor to the 5nm Exynos 1080 with integrated 5G modem and the MT6893 platform by Mediatek – a 6nm upper-midranger that is yet to be announced.

So far we know virtually nothing about the new Snapdragon 7xx aside from its model number SM7350 and the codename Cedros, named after an island off the coast of Mexico (and relatively close to San Diego, Qualcomm’s HQ).

A prototype of this platform scored over 530,000 on AnTuTu, meaning it would be performing way better than the SD765G but will still be a step behind the last year’s flagship SD865 that easily reached over 600,000 on the same benchmarking platform.

POCO M3 launch is set for November 24th in Europe and we have already heard a lot about the smartphone courtesy a render from 91mobiles and leaked specifications. Now, the company has taken it upon themselves to officially confirm a few details about the device, including the display, battery, and chipset. POCO M3 specifications include the Snapdragon 662 processor, a large 6,000mAh battery, and a 6.53-inch display. POCO has also revealed the design, which is in line with our render. The smartphone will debut with a waterdrop notch and a textured rear panel with a rather large and unique rectangular block that houses a triple-camera setup with LED flash and POCO branding. All eyes are now on POCO M3 price, which will be announced during the launch event tomorrow.

POCO M3 will sport a near bezel-less 6.53-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch atop for the selfie camera. The Snapdragon 662 SoC under the hood is likely to be paired with at least 4GB RAM, while the 6,000mAh battery will reportedly be backed by 18W fast charging support. Software-wise, the POCO M3 may run Android 10-based MIUI 12 with the POCO Launcher out of the box. In optics, the POCO M3 will employ triple rear cameras, comprising a 48MP primary sensor. Details about the remaining camera sensors and storage options remain a mystery at the moment.
