Mumbai’s young opener, Ayush Mhatre, is showcasing incredible form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Fresh off his maiden T20 century, Mhatre smashed another hundred, guiding Mumbai to a dominant nine-wicket win against Andhra. This latest century, a brilliant 104 not out off 59 balls, anchored an unbroken 105-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav, chasing down a target of 160. Mhatre’s aggressive innings included nine sixes and five fours, highlighting his destructive batting prowess. The 18-year-old, retained by Chennai Super Kings, has now hit 19 sixes in just three matches this season. This remarkable achievement follows his first T20 century, a 110 off 53 balls, against Vidarbha. Mhatre’s consistent performances are cementing his status as a rising star for CSK and a promising talent for Indian cricket.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has ended his prolonged century drought, scoring a superb unbeaten 102 off 119 balls in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. This significant hundred, his first in 807 days and across 84 innings in all formats, firmly re-establishes him as a premier limited-overs batsman.

This remarkable innings wasn’t just a personal milestone; it propelled Babar Azam into the record books for Pakistan, drawing him level with the esteemed Saeed Anwar for ODI centuries. His return to form under pressure guided Pakistan to a crucial victory in the series.

**Ending the Long Wait for a Ton**
Babar’s previous international century came in August 2023. The subsequent 807-day period without reaching three figures garnered significant attention. His commanding 102 not out against Sri Lanka was a masterclass in controlled aggression. After a cautious start, he accelerated, building a match-winning foundation for the chase.

**Equaling Saeed Anwar’s ODI Legacy**
With this outstanding knock, Babar Azam now boasts 20 ODI centuries. He joins the legendary Saeed Anwar, who also finished his illustrious career with 20 ODI hundreds. This achievement makes Babar Pakistan’s joint-highest century-maker in the One Day International format.

Furthermore, Babar reached this impressive tally in just 136 ODI innings. This incredible pace places him as the third-fastest batsman in international cricket history to achieve 20 ODI centuries, trailing only elite names like Hashim Amla and Virat Kohli.

**A Match-Winning Performance**
Pakistan faced early pressure in their pursuit of 289, but Babar Azam’s composed presence at the crease was instrumental in turning the game’s momentum. His substantial 112-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan formed the core of Pakistan’s successful chase, which concluded in 48.2 overs, securing an eight-wicket win and the series.

Sri Lanka had posted a competitive 288/8, with contributions from Janith Liyanage, Kamindu Mendis, and Wanindu Hasaranga helping them recover from a shaky start. However, their total ultimately proved insufficient against Pakistan’s formidable batting display, anchored by Babar’s brilliant century.

Out-of-favor Indian Test batsman Hanuma Vihari has reasserted his form in the domestic circuit, smashing consecutive centuries in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. Playing for Tripura, Vihari posted an unbeaten 143 against Assam in the ongoing fourth-round fixture at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala. This stellar performance follows his 141 in the previous match against Bengal, where he was instrumental in securing a first-innings lead.

Vihari displayed a blend of resolute defense and aggressive strokeplay against Assam, reaching his century off 215 balls with 17 boundaries and a six. He remained at the crease as Tripura closed the day at 316/4. The middle-order batsman, who has represented India in 16 Test matches scoring 839 runs, is currently outside the national team’s plans.

His career highlights include his legendary partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where their marathon defense in Sydney secured a crucial draw against Australia. This resilience was a key factor in India’s eventual series triumph.

Elsewhere in the Ranji Trophy, Musheer Khan and Siddesh Lad struck centuries for Mumbai, rescuing the team from a precarious 35/3 against Himachal Pradesh and ending the day at 289/5. In another match, Delhi was bowled out for 211 by Jammu and Kashmir, with Auqib Nabi taking five wickets, while J&K reached 31/3 in reply. Jharkhand’s Kumar Kushagra also scored a century, and Uttar Pradesh saw hundreds from Madhav Kaushik and Aryan Juyal against Nagaland.
