Bhagwat traced the RSS’s origins to a need for social unity and national reconstruction during a period of historical division and invasions in India. He highlighted the crucial role of Hindus in preserving the nation’s ancient identity and values. The RSS chief clarified that the organization is not a political entity, focusing instead on societal strengthening and supporting policies beneficial to the nation without formal political affiliations. He also urged citizens to take personal responsibility for maintaining societal discipline, harmony, and mutual respect.

Addressing queries about the RSS’s lack of registration, Bhagwat explained its historical context, noting it began operations in 1925 during British rule and saw no necessity to register with the colonial government. He further defended the organization’s legal standing, mentioning its three bans post-Independence, all of which were subsequently lifted by court rulings, validating its legal existence. Bhagwat asserted that the RSS operates within the Indian Constitution, negating the need for formal registration, drawing a parallel to unregistered entities like Hindu Dharma itself.

Bhagwat reiterated the Sangh’s inclusive stance, welcoming anyone who identifies with ‘Bharat Mata.’ He explained that while the RSS is rooted in Hindu society, people of all faiths, including Muslims and Christians, can participate in its local branches, or ‘shakhas,’ provided they approach with a spirit of unity and belonging. The primary mission of the RSS, according to Bhagwat, is to organize and strengthen Hindu society to foster a prosperous and self-reliant India, aiming to share global knowledge of Dharma for peace and happiness. He concluded by stating that once this objective is achieved, the Sangh’s work will be complete.

He further elaborated on the significance of culture, noting that it is sustained by values and that the purpose of art is to cultivate these values. At the Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan, Vidarbha Sanskar Bharati organized a display of portraits, rangoli, and a booklet to honor 101 selected deceased RSS campaigners and workers.

The centenary celebrations will continue for a year. The head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh mentioned that the RSS has completed 100 years. The celebrations will continue for one year to commemorate this milestone, reflecting on the organization’s journey, its challenges, and its growth. The centenary year has specific guidelines.

The RSS volunteers will execute the centenary activities. The volunteers are involved in several organizations, and the organizations will not act independently. The centenary programs have been decided, in which the volunteers of the RSS, along with the organizations they are a part of, will work as per the RSS’s plan.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will celebrate the completion of its 100 years starting from this year’s Dussehra. Seven major programs will be organized across the country from October 2, 2025, to October 20, 2026.

The objective is to present the RSS’s hundred-year journey, current challenges, and solutions to society. These programs will be held from the local to the provincial levels. In West Bengal, the series of events has already begun from the first day of Navratri.

Hosabale mentioned the government’s initiative to commemorate the event. He expressed his participation as an RSS representative and thanked the government for organizing the program. He highlighted the significance of the upcoming Vijayadashami for the RSS, marking the beginning of its 101st year. He noted the government’s decision to release a postage stamp and a coin on the special occasion of the RSS’s centenary, which he considered a source of joy for everyone. On behalf of the RSS workers spread across the country and the world, he conveyed gratitude to the Government of India.

He stated that those who work for society should be honored, which the Government of India has been doing. He highlighted the presence of RSS volunteers in every corner of the country. The RSS has expanded, and society recognizes its work. The work of the RSS has been carried out by volunteers from time to time, and society has observed their contributions.

Hosabale described the RSS’s 100-year journey as fascinating. The RSS has been striving towards an ideal. The RSS is recognized today for its patriotism and service to the nation. RSS volunteers work for society. He acknowledged the countless volunteers and workers. The aim of the RSS is to build the nation through individual development. Society is built through organization. The RSS has faced ups and downs in its journey. Plans have to be made according to the situation, whatever it may be.

He emphasized that the people of India should live for India and work for the world. This work does not depend on circumstances. It is the duty of every person born in this country, it is the national duty. This national duty needs to be awakened. This is the work of the RSS, and it does it. One must connect individuals with society. Such individuals become part of the nation.

He further added that the country is not just for taking; it is also for giving. This duty we must fulfill. One should not desire rewards. The RSS does not oppose anyone. It takes all sections of society along with it. For the RSS, the nation is everything, and it should be the same for every person in the country. Whenever a disaster strikes, volunteers come forward to serve.
