Choti Diwali, also celebrated as Narak Chaturdashi, ushers in the vibrant festival of lights on October 19, 2025. This significant day, falling on a Sunday, marks the second of the five-day Diwali festivities. It symbolizes the powerful victory of good over evil and the illuminating triumph of light over darkness. Families traditionally light ornate diyas (oil lamps), decorate their homes with beautiful patterns, and engage in spiritual rituals. Exchanging heartfelt wishes is a cherished custom to spread positivity and joy.

This year, embrace the spirit of Choti Diwali with over 50 heartwarming wishes, messages, and quotes. Whether for family, friends, or colleagues, these greetings are perfect for sharing the festive cheer. The significance of Choti Diwali extends beyond illumination; it’s about purification and preparing for the main Diwali celebrations. In various regions, it’s known as Roop Chaturdashi or Kali Chaudas. This day commemorates Lord Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakasura. Many observe early morning oil baths and cleanse their homes, inviting peace, prosperity, and divine blessings while banishing negativity.

Let the glow of diyas illuminate your path to success and happiness this Choti Diwali. Celebrate with loved ones, cherishing the warmth and togetherness that this festival brings. May your life shine brighter than any lamp, filled with joy, love, and abundant prosperity.

Television star Rupali Ganguly is eagerly anticipating Karwa Chauth 2025, a cherished annual celebration with her husband, businessman Ashwin K Verma. Ganguly views the festival as a beautiful tradition, inspired by her in-laws’ devotion to the ritual. She emphasizes that while she has been working for the past five years, her production team graciously allows her to leave early to participate fully in the day’s observances. While acknowledging Karwa Chauth parties, Rupali finds the intimate moments shared between husband and wife at home to be the most special. Her young son, Rudraansh, is an integral part of the festivities, often holding the ‘thali’ (tray) during the rituals. Rupali highlights the complete ritual, from the pre-dawn ‘sargi’ and ‘baya’ to the storytelling (‘katha’) and the traditional red attire, as a significant aspect of the celebration. This year, she’s particularly excited about a new red sari gifted by a co-actor for the occasion.

Preparations for Ravana’s effigy burning were underway at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar. However, heavy rain disrupted the event. The rain, accompanied by dark clouds, soaked the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad, which were adorned with fireworks. The rain caused the effigies to become so waterlogged that Ravana’s head broke off before it could be burned.

The downpour dampened the spirits of the crowd. Those who came to witness the Dusshera celebrations at Gandhi Maidan were affected by the rain. People were seen running for shelter during the rain. Every year, Ravana Dahan is organized at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Vijayadashami, but this time the rain dampened the enthusiasm of the people.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan voiced his disapproval of Pakistani players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan’s on-field actions. India secured victories against Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup, initially in the group stage and later in the Super Fours, yet this appeared to be overshadowed by the Pakistani players’ conduct. Pathan suggested that, instead of focusing on improving their cricket, some Pakistani players seemed more interested in causing disruption on the field.

The match saw several heated moments, including exchanges between Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf. Sahibzada Farhan sparked controversy with a gesture that mimicked shooting a gun with his bat, while Haris Rauf was observed making gestures that resembled a falling plane and a 6-0 scoreline.

Pathan, speaking on his YouTube channel, responded sharply, highlighting that Indian cricketers typically demonstrate their performance with their bats and maintain a composed demeanor. He emphasized that while Indian cricketers remain composed, they will respond if provoked, regardless of the opponent’s nationality. He stated that they will answer with their play and actions.

Pathan further commented that India doesn’t dwell on Pakistan’s losses, such as their defeat to Zimbabwe in the 2022 World Cup. He clarified that there was no public reaction from India because they do not focus on whether the team wins or loses. He noted that while they analyze their opponents, they do not dwell on their failures.

He added that if any team provokes them, they won’t hold back. He pointed out Farhan’s celebration, given the ongoing tensions between the two countries. Pathan expressed disappointment in Haris Rauf’s behavior, noting that he had a different impression of him based on previous interactions. Pathan concluded that the actions of both players reflect their upbringing and background.

The intense rivalry between India and Pakistan extended to the football field during the SAFF U-17 Championship in Sri Lanka, mirroring the heightened emotions seen in the Asia Cup cricket matches. The youth football match became a flashpoint, with provocative celebrations from the Pakistani team drawing parallels to sensitive incidents from recent India-Pakistan military confrontations. Pakistani forward Muhammad Abdullah, after scoring a goal, performed a “tea-drinking” gesture, which was quickly interpreted by Indian fans as a reference to the 2019 arrest of Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who had famously quipped about the ‘fantastic’ tea he was offered while in Pakistani custody. Adding to the controversy, Abdullah’s celebration also seemed to simulate an airplane crash, which many linked to the recent on-field gestures by Pakistani cricketers that were perceived as mocking the downing of Indian planes. Despite these contentious displays, India’s U-17 team rallied, securing a 3-2 victory, with Rahan Ahmed scoring the winning goal. The win placed India at the top of Group B, setting up a semi-final clash with Nepal, while Pakistan will face Bangladesh in their semi-final match.
