  • Cardi B reflects on decision to call off her divorce from Offset

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: American rapper and songwriter Cardi B, who filed for divorce from her husband Offset in 2020 but two months later ultimately called off their legal separation, has recently reflected on her decision.

According to E! News, a USA-based entertainment news outlet, while filing for the divorce, Cardi had described her relationship with Offset as “irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for a reconciliation” in court documents. She later submitted new paperwork to have her initial filing dismissed.

“Me and Offset, we were not seeing eye-to-eye… This was like, the same year I filed for divorce and everything,” said Cardi in the latest episode of Revolt’s ‘The Jason Lee Show’. However, it was her husband’s willingness to change that made her change her mind, reported E! News.

While Cardi did not exactly specify what made her want a divorce in the first place, she did say the issue that was “really bothering” and has since been addressed by her husband, reported E! News.

“The main thing that I wanted him to stop and everything, he stopped and he changed,” she explained, “and it showed me that he wanted to change for me.”

In November 2021, Cardi said her brief split with Offset actually made their relationship stronger. “Of course we went through some challenges,” she told E! News.

A year after their reconciliation, the celebrity duo welcomed son Wave in September 2021. They are also parents to 4-year-old daughter Kulture, while Offset is dad to three other children from previous relationships, as per E! News.

  • Cardi B exits Paramount Players movie ‘Assisted Living’

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has pulled out of a Paramount Players movie, nearly one week before the filming was set to begin.

After the rapper’s exit, the studio has shut down the production of the film ‘Assisted Living’ altogether, reported Deadline. The Hollywood studio hopes to “put the pieces back together later this year.”

Cardi chose to exit the film due to overextension. The cast and crew members have reportedly been informed of the sudden change in plans.

The 29-year-old rapper was set to star in ‘Assisted Living’ in which her character was wrongly accused of committing a crime and went into hiding at her grandmother’s retirement home.

‘Assisted Living’ was set to be Cardi’s third film. The rapper first appeared in the 2019 film ‘Hustlers’ alongside stars like Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Lizzo as one of several strippers working at a New York City strip club.

Last year, Cardi made her debut in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise as Leysa in ‘F9’.

Meanwhile, on the personal front, the rapper announced her second pregnancy with her husband and rapper Offset back in June at the BET awards and the pair welcomed their baby boy in September.

  • Cardi B, Offset ink each other with their wedding date for Valentine’s Day

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Love is in the air for Grammy winner Cardi B and her husband Offset who recently inked each other with their wedding date for Valentine’s Day.

The ‘WAP’ singer on Friday shared a new episode of Facebook Watch show, ‘Cardi Tries’ where she could be seen trying her hand at tattooing for the first time.

“Hey guys, I’m going to do something crazy for Valentine’s Day for my husband,” the 29-year-old explained in a clip obtained by People magazine.

She added, “I’m going to give him a tattoo, you know, I wanna do something really special, so make sure you guys check out this episode where I and Set are getting tatted.”

In the clip, after the duo walks into the tattoo shop, Cardi hits Offset with the news that not only does she wants to get tattooed with him, she wants to do the tattoo herself.

“You’re supposed to trust me – I’m your wife!” Cardi says, to which Offset cheekily replies, “I trust you, but baby, you don’t know how to draw.”

As per People magazine, after doing a couple of practice rounds on synthetic tattooable skin while being coached by Offset’s tattoo artist Nico Hurtado, Cardi then tattoos the numbers of their wedding date – ‘9/20/17’ – on Offset’s hand.

“Actually, I did pretty good! What can I not do? I could do everything. Like, I could put my mind to something and I can really do it!” Cardi said in the clip.

After her turn, Offset also tattooed Cardi with the same numerical.

For the unversed, Cardi had earlier teased her fans on her Twitter handle that she was thinking of getting a new tattoo in honour of her son.

“Random but ….I’m 1 per cent close too tatting my sons name on my face….I really really wanna do it!” wrote the singer, who also shares 3-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari with Offset.

The couple already has several creative arts on their body, but this will surely be special for them!

  • Cardi B wins million-dollar defamation suit against ‘malicious’ YouTuber

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Singer Cardi B has won a million-dollar defamation lawsuit against a YouTuber who was sued by the star for hurting her reputation by posting fake content on the internet.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, a federal jury on Monday sided with Cardi B on her accusations that a YouTuber named Latasha Kebe waged a “malicious campaign” to hurt the superstar’s reputation, issuing a verdict that the woman had defamed the rapper and awarding the star more than USD 1 million in damages.

Following a two-week trial that featured testimony from both women, the jury returned a verdict that Kebe was liable for defamation and two other forms of wrongdoing over her YouTube videos and other internet posts — which claimed that Cardi B had contracted herpes, among other unsavoury rumours.

The Hollywood Reporter informed that Monday’s verdict has awarded the 29-year-old rapper USD 1.25 million in damages. The total amount could potentially end up higher, as per the outlet.

Further proceedings that will kick off on Tuesday will decide whether Kebe owes additional punitive damages, or whether she must reimburse Cardi B for her legal expenses.

For the uninformed, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, sued Kebe in 2019 over dozens of videos that contained shocking claims about the rapper saying she contracted herpes, she had been a prostitute, that she had cheated on her husband, she had done hard drugs and more.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, a trial was held on January 10 in Georgia federal court, during which both women took the stand. Cardi B testified that she felt “suicidal” in the wake of Kebe’s videos, and said that “only an evil person could do that sh**.”

Kebe initially admitted that she knowingly published lies about the rapper, but she later tried to walk back that statement when examined by her own attorneys.

Ultimately, the jurors sided with Cardi B, as per the outlet.

In addition to defamation, the jury also held Kebe liable for “invasion of privacy through portrayal in a false light, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

The Hollywood Reporter informed that Kebe’s attorneys can challenge the verdict to the judge in the weeks ahead. If he upholds it, her attorneys can then appeal the verdict to a federal appeals court.

UNITED STATES: Cardi B has offered to pay the burial costs for all 17 people killed in a fire that ripped through a New York City high-rise.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday that the Grammy-winning rapper had offered financial relief for victims of the fire in the Bronx, where she grew up.

Many of the victims had ties to Gambia, and the families of several of the victims planned to bury them in their West African homeland. Cardi B has committed to paying the repatriation expenses for the victims who will be buried in Gambia, the mayor’s office said.

“I’m extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still. So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help,” Cardi B in a statement.

“I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal. I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy.”

The fire, which was New York City’s deadliest in three decades, was sparked by a faulty space heater, according to authorities.

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Grammy-winning singer Lizzo dropped the music video of her new single ‘Rumors’ on Friday and it also features rapper Cardi B.

In addition to the ultimate girl power duo, the song features lyrics about a breakup, social media backlash and a certain Drake moment.

Lizzo shared the song’s official music video on her Instagram account. She captioned the post, “YO. lmk what y’all think… FORREAL.. cus… ‘RUMORS’ IS OUT RIGHT NOW!!! AaaaaaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.”

The ‘Truth Hurts’ singer and the ‘WAP’ rapper teamed up for ‘Rumors’, Lizzo’s first single in two years, and dropped a goddess-inspired music video Friday to accompany the catchy track.

In the new single, Lizzo shuts down online critics and trolls spreading rumours about everything from her dating life to her diet. The video begins with the Grammy winner walking through a world like ancient Greece, reminiscent of Disney’s 1997 animated hit ‘Hercules’, dressed as a goddess in a sparkly gold dress, gladiator sandals and plenty of statement jewellery.

As she sings, “Last year, I thought I would lose it/ Readin’ sh– on the internet / My smoothie cleanse and my diet/ No, I ain’t f— Drake yet,” she strolls past Grecian columns and pottery featuring images of women twerking.

In the chorus, Lizzo delivers a direct message to her haters.

“Spendin’ all your time tryna break a woman down/ Realer s— is goin’ on, baby, take a look around/ If you thought that I was ratchet with my a– hangin’ out/ Just wait until the summer when they let me out the house, b—-,” she sings.

When it’s time for Cardi B’s verse, the rapper, who is expecting her second child with husband Offset, flaunts her bare baby bump, draped in gold chains.

As she reads off an endless scroll while seated on a throne, she raps, “All the rumors are true, yeah/ Fake a–, fake b–bs, yeah/ Made a million at Sue’s, yeah/ Y’all be runnin’ with fake news, yeah.”

Ahead of the Friday release of ‘Rumors’, both the singers teased the track on social media.

“All the rumors are truuuuue – me n my sis @lizzobeeating dropping this friday get ready,” Cardi B wrote on Instagram Monday, posting a photo of her and Lizzo flashing sparkly gold manicures.

Lizzo marked the release of her new single with a triumphant return to Twitter after signing off the app last year because of “trolls”.

“Hey y’all.. heard I was trending so I decided to come back on here.. what I miss?” she wrote on Monday.

Lizzo previously declared her new single the start of a “new era” in an Instagram post earlier this month. “NEW ERA BITCH. ‘RUMORS’. 8/13,” she captioned the photo.

The song is Lizzo’s first batch of new music since the release of ‘Cuz I Love You’ in 2019, reported People magazine.

Prior to her announcement about ‘Rumors’, the star teased that she was working on new music in a TikTok post. The artist, seen in a music studio, captioned the post “THE RUMORS ARE FALSE.”

Following the release of ‘Rumors’, Lizzo is scheduled to perform at multiple festivals this year including the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on September 4, Global Citizen Love on September 25, Firefly Music Festival on September 26, the New Orleans and Heritage Festival on October 8 and Outside Lands on October 29.

Lizzo won three Grammys in 2020, for ‘Truth Hurts’ (best pop solo performance), ‘Jerome’ (best traditional R&B performance) and ‘Cuz I Love You’ (best urban contemporary album). (ANI)

  • Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion tease new collaboration one year after ‘WAP’

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: A Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion collaboration might be on the cards.

The rappers celebrated the first anniversary of their chart-topping sex-positive single ‘WAP’ over the weekend and even teased a possible new collaboration.

“Wow I can’t believe wappity WAP turned one today. It don’t even feel like it. What a record! @theestallion we should do it again sometime,” Cardi wrote on Twitter.

Megan appeared to be on board for a follow-up to their controversial hit. “Happy WAPIVERSARY,” she wrote in a quote tweet. “Thank you for having me, I think the people deserve another collab.”

They debuted the single and music video for ‘WAP’ last August, from Cardi’s upcoming second studio album. The highly-lauded video featured cameos from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rubi Rose, Sukihana, Rosalia, and Mulatto. The women donned some opulent takes on sexy lingerie as they showed off their moves in separate rooms of a funhouse-esque mansion.

Although the track debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving Cardi her fourth No. 1 single in the US and Megan’s second, it was met with backlash from several conservatives.

Cardi has continued to defend the song, opening up about the response to Apple Music in February, reported People magazine.

“When ‘WAP’ came out, the people that were criticizing it the most, they were like, ‘This is so nasty, this is so freaky’ — I don’t even think it was religious people, it was really a lot of Republicans,” she said, noting that they also disapproved of her endorsing Bernie Sanders and President Joe Biden in the past.

“Big Republicans, not like senators and s— like that, it was literally like those motherf—— that got blue checks on Twitter, they’re big influencers,” Cardi continued. “And it’s just like out of anything that y’all could have talked about it?”

Megan also addressed the backlash on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

“First of all, I wanna say thank you to Cardi for even putting me on the song,” she said in December. “But, I mean, I felt like that was really, like, a little weird. I know the Republicans have been having a bad year and they probably needed to take their frustration out somewhere.” “But I wanna tell them thank you for the streams!” Megan added with a laugh. “Because without you, I don’t know if we would’ve been here! But no, them people crazy — why you worried about my WAP?” She and Cardi later teamed up to perform the song on live television, serving a raunchy display on CBS during the 63rd annual Grammy Awards in March.

Halle Berry also celebrated the song’s anniversary over the weekend.

“Unseen footage from #WAP video. Happy 1-year ladies,” Berry wrote on Twitter, posting a clip from the video edited with a scene of her dancing in the 1997 movie B.A.P.S., which heavily inspired the music video.
