This move solidifies the Nexon’s position as a leader in automotive safety, building on its unique achievement of dual 5-star ratings from both GNCAP and BNCAP (India NCAP).

Alongside the cutting-edge ADAS technology, Tata Motors has also unveiled an exclusive Red Dark Edition of the Nexon. This stylish new variant is available across all three powertrain options: petrol, diesel, and CNG.
In the current Indian automobile market, the term “5-star safety rating” is on everyone’s lips. Whether buying a new car or upgrading from an old one, customers are now focusing…

In the current Indian automobile market, the term “5-star safety rating” is on everyone’s lips. Whether buying a new car or upgrading from an old one, customers are now focusing not only on mileage and looks but also on safety. But have you ever wondered how a car gets this 5-star rating? What is the process of a crash test and what does it mean in real life? Let’s answer all these questions.

Crash tests are conducted to assess how much safety a car can provide to its occupants in the event of a road accident. Road accidents injure or kill millions of people every year. Thus, the assessment of a car’s strength, airbags, seat belts, and other safety features is done through crash tests.

Globally, agencies like NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) conduct these tests. In recent years, Bharat NCAP has been launched in India. In addition, European NCAP, Latin NCAP, and Global NCAP are also major organizations that test cars sold in various markets.

In a crash test, the car is crashed in different situations.

After the test, data is taken from the sensors attached to the dummies (devices like humans). This data indicates how much injury a person’s head, chest, legs, and spine might sustain. Based on this, the car is given a score.

* 0 to 1 star: Very less safe
* 2 to 3 stars: Average safety
* 4 stars: Good safety
* 5 stars: Highest level of safety

It is important to note that a 5-star safety rating does not mean 100% safe. It only indicates that the car provides better safety compared to other models. In real accidents, speed, and road conditions also matter a lot.

In India, thousands of people are involved in accidents every day. In such a situation, it is essential for customers to know that their car is strong not only in appearance but also in terms of safety. This is why the sales of cars like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 increased rapidly after their 5-star rating.

Recently launched Maruti Victoris has received a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash test. The starting price of Maruti Victoris is approximately 10.50 lakh rupees to 19.99 lakh rupees. It offers 6 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and features like ABS and ESP as safety features.

Sleeping in a car can seem comfortable, but it can also be deadly, particularly when the air conditioning is running. This fact may surprise some, but a car’s AC can pose a significant threat. A recent incident in Noida, near Sector 62, shocked everyone. In the incident, a driver and his friend were found dead in a cab. The driver’s family initiated a search when he didn’t return home. Upon finding the car, they broke the window and discovered both men had passed away.

Following this event, the immediate question is: How can AC lead to death? According to reports, the police sent the bodies for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death. Preliminary investigations suggest that the two men were asleep with the AC on, and their deaths resulted from suffocation.

With rising speeds on expressways, safety in vehicles has become paramount. For those considering a new car purchase, prioritizing safety is crucial. Here are some top choices, all rigorously tested…

With rising speeds on expressways, safety in vehicles has become paramount. For those considering a new car purchase, prioritizing safety is crucial. Here are some top choices, all rigorously tested by Bharat NCAP or similar organizations. These tests ensure that vehicles can withstand impacts and protect passengers.

KIA recently crash-tested its new subcompact SUV, the Syros. It achieved a 5-star rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program, excelling in both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. Vehicles are scored out of 32 for Adult and 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The Syros scored around 30.21 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 44.42 for Child Occupant Protection.

The Syros demonstrated strength in the side impact test, scoring a perfect 16 out of 16 points. It also boasts 16 autonomous safety features, including ADAS level 2, and 20 standard active and passive safety features, making it one of the safest in its class.

Tata Nexon was among the first in its segment to undergo the Global NCAP test and achieved an outstanding score. It earned 32.22 out of 34 for adult occupant safety and 44.52 out of 49 for child occupant safety. Tata has consistently prioritized safety. The Nexon is a strong contender for providing comprehensive passenger protection in a crash.

The new Vitara Brezza’s crash test results are not yet available. The older, two-airbag version earned a 4-star rating for adult occupant safety and 2 stars for child occupant safety. A new version of the Brezza may offer improved safety.

In 2019, the Hyundai Venue was crash-tested under ANCAP protocols. It achieved a 4-star adult occupant safety rating. The tested version, possibly a global spec, included curtain airbags.

The Mahindra 3XO received a 5-star crash rating. It scored 29.36 out of 32 for Adult Protection and 43 out of 49 for Child Protection. It performed well in the frontal and side tests, with 13.36 out of 16 and a perfect 16 out of 16, respectively. Safety features include 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, all-wheel disc brakes, and Level 2 ADAS.

The Skoda Kylaq is the safest subcompact SUV, scoring 30.88 out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. It performed remarkably in frontal and side barrier tests, with scores of 15.04 and 15.84 out of 16. It has 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a rear parking camera.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire, tested with 6 airbags, earned a 5-star rating in both adult and child occupant safety. The Dzire, along with the Virtus, achieved a 92% safety rating for both adults and children.

The 6-airbag version of the Baleno scored around 26.52/32 for adult occupant safety (about 4 stars) and 34.81 out of 49 for child occupant protection (about 3 stars). This version has front, side head curtain, side chest, and side pelvis airbags, as well as ISOFIX seats at the rear.
