The apprehended individual has been identified as Uday Kumar alias Mantu, a resident of Hariharganj in the Palamu district. Investigations revealed that the suspect had procured the contraband from Jarapada station in the Sambalpur division of Odisha. His plan was to transport the ganja via bus, through Daltonganj, for further distribution. Authorities were tipped off about the suspect’s activities, leading to the swift apprehension as he disembarked from a train and proceeded towards the ticket counter. A thorough search of his luggage uncovered the substantial amount of illegal ganja. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his long-standing involvement in the illegal trade. Police are now examining his call details and network to identify other individuals involved in this narcotics smuggling ring. The GRP station in-charge confirmed that surveillance measures at the station are being intensified to curb increasing smuggling activities.
