The Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India, Shri Rajiv Goba today inquired from the Chief Secretaries of the state about the progress of multi-purpose road project-rail project-iron-steel projects being constructed in the states through video conferencing. Mr. Goba inquired about the steel plant to be set up in Nagarnar village in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. Chief Secretary Shri R.P. The Board informed that out of 61 villages affected by the construction of Nagarnar Steel Plant, land acquisition and other processes have been completed in 57 villages. The process of land acquisition in the remaining four villages will be completed by the end of November 2020. Additional Chief Secretary Forest Industry Department Mr. Manoj Pingua and Secretary Revenue Department Ms. Rita Shandilya were also present in the meeting.

Schools will not open in Raipur even after Oct 15, the government took this decision in the cabinet meeting,
The Chhattisgarh Government said on Thursday that schools will remain closed in view of the corona virus epidemic in the state. A government spokesperson said that the decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel (Bhupesh Baghel). According to the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the state governments can take a decision about the reopening of schools after October 15 . An official said that the state cabinet decided that schools would remain closed in view of the epidemic situation in Chhattisgarh. The cabinet also decided that on November 1 this year, no extravagant ceremony will be organized on the occasion of State Foundation Day (Chhattisgarh Foundation Day) and only state award ceremonies will be held at the Chief Minister’s residence. Apart from this, the Haryana Government is also considering reopening schools from class 6th to 9th across the state. The government is planning to do this so that students can take proper guidance from their teachers. The decision was taken in line with the Centre’s decision to allow schools to resume from October 15.

Tribute paid to the late Shri Ravindra Bhendia in the meeting of the cabinet held under the chairmanship of Mr. Baghel.
A cabinet meeting was held at his residence office here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel. A humble tribute was paid to the late Mr. Ravindra Bhendia, husband of the Minister of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Anila Bhendia, after a two-minute silence at the meeting. Shri Ravindra Bhendia died on the intervening night of October 4 and 5.

Cabinet approves extension of the term of the Commission to examine the issue of Sub-categorization of Other Backward Classes in the Central List till 31st May 2019
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the extension of the term of the Commission to examine the issue of Sub-categorization of Other Backward Classes in the Central List for six months beyond 30th November, 2018 and till 31st May 2019.
The Commission has held extensive meetings with the stake holders including the State Governments, the State Backward Classes Commissions, various community associations and general public belonging to various Backward Classes and Commissions and also obtained records, caste-wise, of OBCs admitted in higher educational institution as well as similar caste-wise data of recruits in Central Departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Public Sector Banks & Financial Institutions.
Based on the emanating information from the data as processed and analyzed, the Commission has expressed that a round of discussion with the States and their Backward Classes Commission was required before finalizing the sub-categorized lists and the Report.

Sonowal vows strong action against culprits
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday warned stern action against those involved in the massacre of five Bengali Hindu in Tinsukia district of eastern Assam on Thursday evening and said that the Government will also take action against a section of people, organisations and public representatives who made inflammatory statements in the past that led to the incident on Thursday.
Three Ministers of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal led Assam cabinet visited the place of occurrence on Friday and interacted with the people to assure security to them. The Government have also announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh and Government jobs to the next keen of the victims’ family.
“We will take strongest action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime. I have directed all law enforcing agencies to maintain peace and take stern action against anybody trying to destabilise our peaceful society and State,” Sonowal tweeted on Friday.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on innocent people at Sadiya. My hearfelt condolence to the family members of those who have lost their lives Sonowal tweeted on Friday. “My police department has started taking action against the culprits involved in the killing,” said Sonowal in another tweet on Friday.
“Some individuals, organizations, a section of media, social media and inflammatory statements by a section of peoples’ representatives have led to the situation yesterday. We appeal all to maintain restrain or we will be forced to take action against them,” Sonowal said.
Interestingly, the anti-talk faction of Ulfa, who the police had suspected to be behind the incident, denied their involvement in the incident on Friday.
Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia refused to name any particular outfit behind the incident on Friday and only said that the police have started the investigation to bring the culprits to the book. “Our first job is to instill a sense of security among the people living here and we are doing that. I hope that police will arrest the culprits soon,” said the DGP.
In another development, police in Assam’s capital town Guwahati have arrested Mrinal Hazarika, a senior leader of the pro-talk faction of Ulfa for allegedly making inflammatory statements against a particular community a few days back.
Police said that Hazarika while speaking against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill recently had threatened the Bengali Hindus of dire consequences.
It may be mentioned here that Assam has been witnessing severe protests over the BJP led Government’s move to pass in the parliament the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016—a constitutional amendment bill that seeks to grant citizenship to persecuted minority communities in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. While several organizations including the indigenous communities are opposing the Bill, some of the Hindu Bengali organizations are supporting the Bill. Several Hindu Bengali organization had also planned to organize a rally in support of the Bill on November 17, to which, however the BJP led Assam Government denied permission.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the final extension of the term of the Other Backward Classes in the Central List currently mandated upto 20th June 2018, till 31st July, 2018.
The Commission held extensive meetings with the stake holders including the State Governments, the State Backward Classes Commissions, various community associations and general public belonging to various Backward Classes and Communities. The Commission also obtained records, caste-wise of OBCs admitted in higher educational institution as well as similar caste-wise data of recruits in Central Departments, Central Public Sector Undertakings, Public Sector Banks & Financial Institutions.
To have a detailed look at the data collected, the Commission has sought extension of its term 31st July, 2018.
