  • Brad Pitt back with ‘Bullet Points’

    By Express News Service

After back-to-back hits in the form of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra, Brad Pitt is back this week with Bullet Train. The veteran actor, who attended the press conference of the film along with the cast and crew, called the virtual meeting “really fun”. Calling Bullet Train a product of the pandemic, Pitt said, “It was five or six months into the pandemic and it was messing up with our minds. That’s when I read this really funny script and there was one scene involving rapper Bad Bunny which made me laugh out loud.”

Incidentally, Pitt had earlier worked with the film’s director David Leitch albeit in a different role. “When we first met, I was an actor and he was a stuntman. In fact, he was my stunt double from Fight Club days and we have worked in films like The Mexican, Mr & Mrs Smith and Troy. It was good to come back a full circle with my man becoming the boss,” said Pitt. Talking about the rest of the ensemble cast, he said, “When these guys jumped on, they lit the thing up. In this film, it’s not about characters supporting the protagonist. They all have their own agenda and they clash with each other. They are a talented bunch and we had a blast shooting for the film.”

Pitt plays Ladybug, a seasoned assassin with “strange” philosophies. “He’s a chump (laughs) and that’s the kind of role that’s the most fun to play. Zak Olkewicz wrote the character and I believe the character is someone who has had a mental breakdown because of his absence from work. Maybe he had a couple of months of therapy under his belt and therefore he thought he had all the answers about life. He even believes that conflicts can be solved peacefully (smiles). The sad thing is, that’s pretty much where I am in life.”

Interestingly, Pitt’s last on-screen appearance was a cameo in Sandra Bullock’s The Lost City, and now, the Gravity actor has done a cameo in Bullet Train. “Sandy is a dear friend who I can call for any favour. When this film came along, I wanted to call her for another favour (laughs). She agreed and this time she wanted me to return the favour, and that’s how The Lost City happened. I like how we get to cross-pollinate each other’s projects.”

Despite Bullet Train being an action film, Pitt says it was also a technological marvel. “The technology is amazing. I’ve seen Hitchcock films where a character drives a car and projection plays a video in the background. Now, in this film, they have designed massive video walls that are three cars in length and 20 feet tall.

They would display the entire sequence of the train travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto, so we didn’t feel stagnant at all. Actually, some of the actors had motion sickness,” says Pitt, adding, “When you work with the best, the rhythms that happen are so much fun and it gives you a sense of fulfilment when you go back home. We figured this film as we went along so there was also a sense of adventure. That was the most rewarding experience,” concludes Pitt.

  • Angelina Jolie wins legal battle against ex-husband Brad Pitt over French winery

    By ANI

LOS ANGELES: Angelina Jolie has won a legal battle against her former husband Brad Pitt in their war over the Chateau Miraval winery where they got married in 2014.

As per Page Six, the pair took control of the renowned rose company in 2008 when they moved into the chateau that sits on its Provencal vineyard and Pitt has been toiling over the breathtaking buildings and grounds ever since.

But Jolie sold her stake to liquor giant Stoli — setting in motion a Byzantine web of lawsuits in the US, France and Luxembourg between Pitt, Jolie, their respective businesses and various business partners.

And now Angelina’s legal team has subpoenaed documents from Pitt as well as his company and his business manager on July 22.

A judge in LA said that Pitt and his partners must fork them over to the opposing lawyers — and said that they can’t even hold off until they appeal the decision.

Sources close to the “Maleficent” star’s business operation told Page Six that Pitt’s letting his anger over their vicious split get in the way of common business sense.

“Any rational human being would be happy for Stoli to [be a partner in their business.] They have top-notch marketing and distribution,” the source said, noting that the firm offers huge opportunities for the business to grow.

“He just can’t see past his hatred of Jolie,” they continued.

Pitt and Jolie, who separated in 2016, have six children together.

  • I always felt very alone in my life: Brad Pitt

    By IANS

NEW DELHI: Contributor and author Ottessa Moshfegh meets actor and producer Brad Pitt at his Hollywood Hills home in a new cover story for GQ magazine’s August issue. Throughout their conversations, Pitt is open and honest about his career’s future, the various changes he’s made to improve his health, and his feelings of loneliness. He also talks about his upcoming projects, which include the action comedy Bullet Train.

Pitt is a legendary leading man, Hollywood power broker, and possibly the greatest heartthrob of all time. However, he has recently appeared onscreen less frequently and has been more focused on his role as a film producer. He tells GQ that he’s trying to think about what’s next and what kind of path he wants to take in the final stages of a prolifically creative career.

“I consider myself on my last leg, this last semester or trimester,” he says. “What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”

Part of that design includes his production company, Plan B Entertainment. This year, Plan B is putting out Women Talking – an adaptation of Miriam Toews’s novel about a group of Mennonite women who unite against their rapists – directed by Sarah Polley.

“It’s as profound a film as anything made this decade,” Pitt remarks.

Like all accomplished actors, he has become more picky about which films he will appear in. Pitt, on the other hand, is happy to lend his talents to an unusual blockbuster when the timing is right, especially if there’s a personal connection. Pitt will star in Bullet Train, an action comedy thriller directed by David Leitch, who previously worked as Pitt’s stunt double in Fight Club, Troy, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Pitt plays Ladybug, an assassin on a train from Tokyo to Kyoto who has recently recovered from burnout and is returning to his high-stakes job with a somewhat erroneous sense of confidence in his fitness for duty.

“You know, you do a month of therapy, you have one epiphany, and you think you’ve got it all figured out, and you’re never going to be forlorn ever again,” Pitt says of his character. “That was that. I got this, I’m good to go!”

Pitt also tells GQ about his mission to improve his health. He explains that he quit smoking during the pandemic after offering Moshfegh a nicotine mint. Although he initially attempted to reduce the amount of cigarettes he smoked, he realised that simply cutting back on cigarettes wasn’t going to suffice-he needed to quit completely.

“I don’t have that ability to do just one or two a day,” he says. “It’s not in my makeup. I’m all in. And I’m going to drive into the ground. I’ve lost my privileges.”

It’s only one of several radical changes he’s made to his health over the past few years. After Pitt’s ex-wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, he got sober and spent a year and a half attending Alcoholics Anonymous.

“I had a really cool men’s group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe,” he tells GQ. “Because I’d seen things of other people, like Philip Seymour Hoffman, who had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that’s just atrocious to me.”

Pitt has talked in the past about how he struggles to remember new people, to recognize faces, and he fears it’s led to a certain impression of him: that he’s aloof and self-absorbed. Moshfegh, however, finds him to be the opposite. Pitt is deeply committed to forging meaningful connections, to probing life’s existential quandaries, and hearing the personal stories of others.

“I always felt very alone in my life,” he explains, “alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family. What’s that line, it was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something about when you can walk with the paradox, when you carry real pain and real joy simultaneously, this is maturity, this is growth.”

  • Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’ gets a new release date

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Brad Pitt’s ‘Bullet Train’ is arriving at the station a little later than scheduled. Sony Pictures announced that the action thriller is moving from July 15 to July 29, taking the recently-vacated date of Dwayne Johnson’s DC movie ‘Black Adam’.

As per Deadline, the July 15 release date is now being taken by ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’, a drama-mystery from Sony’s 3000 Pictures.

The move gives ‘Bullet Train’ a little breathing room behind Disney’s MCU threequel ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, which will hit theatres on July 8.

In its new July 29 slot, ‘Bullet Train’ will battle two other wide openers: Focus Features’ horror-thriller ‘Vengeance’ and Paramount’s animated action-comedy ‘Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank’, which are both releasing on July 22.

Pitt stars in ‘Bullet Train’ as an experienced assassin whose first day back at work isn’t as easy as planned as he finds himself among several other professional killers with a similar mission on said train.

Sandra Bullock, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Hiroyuki Sanada, Zazie Michael Shannon, Andrew Koji and Benito A Martinez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny) are also a part of the star cast.

  • Brad Pitt sues ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling winery they jointly owned

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Oscar winner Brad Pitt and ex-wife Angelina Jolie are yet again embroiled in a legal battle as the former has sued the latter for selling her interest in a winery they jointly owned, to a Russian oligarch.According to the legal documents obtained by TMZ, the two bought Chateau Miraval in Correns, France back in 2008.

Brad says he invested a ton of money and time in the winery over the years, although he acknowledges Angelina plunked down 40 per cent of the USD 28.4 million purchase price.

Brad says he alone made the winery successful because by 2013 she wasn’t doing much in that department. He claims they always had an understanding neither of them could sell off their interest without the other’s consent. For the unversed, Angelina filed for divorce in 2016 and it became super contentious.

Last July, the ‘Maleficent’ actor went to court and told the judge she had reached an agreement to sell her interest to an unnamed person. On the other hand, Brad says in September he agreed to allow Angelina to pursue the sale but made it clear that he was not consenting to the sale, but rather would give thumbs up or down to the proposed buyer.

As per TMZ, Brad claims that in October he was shocked to learn a company called Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli Group (the vodka co.)- controlled by a Brad PittRussian oligarch, Yuri Shefler, bought her interest in the winey. He claims that Angelina never sought his consent and intentionally kept the terms of the deal from him. Brad says Shefler has wreaked havoc on his ability to run the winery.

A source close to Brad told TMZ, “Unfortunately, this is another example of the same person disregarding her legal and ethical obligations. In doing so, she has violated the rights of the only person who poured money and sweat equity into the success of the business by purporting to sell both the business and family home to a third-party competitor.”

“She is seeking a return on an investment she did not make and profits she did not earn,” the source added.Insiders told TMZ that Brad now wants the judge to undo the deal. He also wants damages.

  • ‘Was left starstruck’: Jake Gyllenhaal on meeting Brad Pitt at the sets of ‘The Good Girl’

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is known for his work in ‘The Guilty’ and ‘Demolition’ has admitted that he was left starstruck by another A-lister in Hollywood, Brad Pitt.

People magazine citied an interview in W magazine for their 2022 Best Performances Portfolio in which the 41-year-old actor talked about his first meeting with Brad Pitt on the set of ‘The Good Girl’, when he was working with Pitt’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

“I was working with Jennifer Aniston, who was his wife at the time, and there were a lot of racy scenes. I remember putting my hand out to shake his, and accidentally hitting the door and Pitt said, so confidently and kindly, ‘Well, you have another one. It’s all right’. It was a really lovely exchange, but I was definitely starstruck, ” Gyllenhall was quoted as saying.

Gyllenhaal also shared about working with ‘Friends’ star Aniston in 2002, during an interview on ‘The Howard Stern Show’. When asked if it was “torture” to film love scenes with Aniston, the actor yes because he liked her so much. “Oh yeah, it was torture, yes it was,” he said, laughing.

“But it was also not torture. I mean, come on, it was like a mix of both. Weirdly, love scenes are awkward, because there are maybe 30, 50 people watching it? That doesn’t turn me on. It’s oddly mechanical. And also it’s a dance, you’re choreographing for a camera. You can get in it but it’s like a fight scene, you have to choreograph those scenes,” he added.

In April 2016, Gyllenhaal had joked to the People magazine that working with actor Jennifer Aniston was rough. “I will say, I had a crush on her for years. And working with her was not easy. I was – um, yeah. That’s all I’m going to say. It was lovely. It wasn’t hard, that’s what I would say,” he said.

He added that he was on Team Aniston not because of the TV series Friends, but because of how Aniston presented herself. “Not so much Friends, but kind of her personality from afar, and movies she was in. And some of Friends – I’m not a huge Friends fan – but who she is,” he said.
