  • Edgar Ramirez to play Atlas in ‘Borderlands’

    Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez has been roped to star opposite Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game, Boderlands. 

    Ramirez will play the role of business tycoon and arms manufacturer Atlas, the most powerful person in the game’s universe.

    Filmmaker Eli Roth is directing the film from a script by Emmy-winning Chernobyl-creator Craig Mazin.

  • Haley Bennett joins star-studded cast of ‘Borderlands’

    WASHINGTON: American actor Haley Bennett has joined the cast of ‘Borderlands’, Liongate’s movie adaptation of the popular video game of the same name.

    As per The Hollywood Reporter, Bennett will play a key to the past of actor Cate Blanchett’s character, Lilith.

    The rest of the ensemble cast for ‘Borderlands’ includes Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, and Jack Black as Claptrap.

    The forthcoming film is being helmed by American filmmaker Eli Roth. The upcoming movie adaptation will mark Eli’s second collaboration with Jack and Cate. The three have previously worked together in the 2018 family comedy ‘The House With a Clock in Its Walls’.

    Craig Mazin, who created the acclaimed HBO miniseries ‘Chernobyl’, wrote the latest draft of the screenplay. ‘Borderlands’ is based on the famous role-playing shooter game that launched in 2009. The game, which has spawned several sequels, takes place on the planet of Pandora.

    Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing through their Arad Productions banner, with Erik Feig also producing through Picturestart. Gearbox Entertainment Company founder Randy Pitchford and Take-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick are serving as executive producers for the feature adaptation.

  • ‘Creed II’ actor Florian Munteanu in talks for ‘Borderlands’ movie

    LOS ANGELES: Boxer-turned-actor Florian Munteanu, best known for starring in “Creed II”, is in negotiations to joins the cast of Lionsgate’s “Borderlands” movie. An adaptation of popular video game of the same name, the movie will be directed by Eli Roth from a script by Emmy-winning “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, if finalised, Munteanu will join Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black and Ariana Greenblatt in the movie. Blanchett stars as Lilith, a woman with great superpowers; Hart plays the legendary thief Roland; Curtis is cast as archeologist and scientist Dr Tannis, and Black essays the role of Claptrap, an enthusiastic robot.

    Munteanu will play Krieg, the musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector of Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), the unstable 13-year-old explosive expert. Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing “Borderlands” via their Arad Productions banner along with Picturestart’s Erik Feig.

    The movie, which will start production in April in Hungary, will be executive produced by Randy Pitchford and Strauss Zelnick. Munteanu made his feature acting debut with “Creed II”, in which he portrayed Drago opposite Michael B Jordan’s Adonis Creed.

    He will next star as Razor Fist in Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”, which is scheduled to be released worldwide in July.
