THE fourth convocation of Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur was held, conferring degrees to nearly a thousand students from the batches of 2015-2019. Though the event was on virtual mode, yet it never diminished the joy and fervour of the special occasion. In this much awaited Convocation, two research scholars were awarded Ph.D, while 223 and 750 students got LL. M and B.A.LL.B (Hons.) degrees respectively. It was also an occasion to recognise and reward the academic achievements of the students by awarding them the gold medals. There were 61 gold medal recipients on the occasion from across the batches of 2015 to 2019. The video of Chief Justice of India and Visitor of the HNLU Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel and Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and Chancellor of the HNLU Justice PR Ramachandra Menon were played for the masses.
The event started with the national anthem. With the declaration of opening of the Convocation by the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr V C Vivekanandan welcomed the gathering and presented the University report highlighting the salient features and past achievements of the University as well as rolling out the plans on the anvil and the future visions. This followed the award of Degrees and Gold Medals.
The Chancellor conferred the degrees to the students at the proposal of the Vice Chancellor. The Registrar In-charge, Dr Deepak Kumar Srivastava announced the names of the Gold Medal awardees. In his recorded address, Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde recalled the contribution of Justice Hidayatullah and exhorted the degree recipients to learn from the life of this great legal maven. He also stressed upon the need to uphold and help uphold the constitutional values in any and every situation. In his recorded address, Chancellor of the HNLU Justice Menon urged the students to maintain high level of professional ethics in their future career as well as on a personal note underlining the importance of constant learning from all corners of life. Calling HNLU as the pride of Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his satisfaction on the performance of the University and congratulated the graduating students and wished further greater success for the students as well as the University. The event concluded with the formal announcement of dissolution of the Convocation.
