  • PM Modi Rebuts Mamata’s Comment On Ramakrishna Mission Monks As ‘Vote Bank’ Politics |

New Delhi: Prime Minister and BJP senior leader Narendra Modi condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks against the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha monks. While addressing the rally in West Bengal’s Purulia on Sunday, Modi said that TMC has crossed all the limits by stooping so low that it is “spreading canards against ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha”

Reacting to Banjerjee’s remark, PM Modi said that threats were being issued against these socio-religious organisations just to appease their vote bank.

“The TMC, which has intimidated and threatened the people of Bengal during elections, has crossed all limits this time. Today, in the country and the world, ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangh are known for service and morality, but the chief minister of Bengal is openly threatening them from an open platform…They are threatening them just to appease their vote bank” he said.

Earlier, CM Banerjee during his poll rally in Goghat under the Arambagh Lok Sabha constituency on Saturday claimed that some mocks of the Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha are working under the BJP leader’s influence.

“Some monks of Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram Sangha are working under the influence of BJP leaders in Delhi. Those who are looking after temples are doing great spiritual jobs, but everyone is not doing so. This is not done. We respect the monks,” she said.

PM Modi further added that these organisations have millions of followers across the world and they aim to serve the people.

“The Bengal government has pointed fingers at them. So much courage! Just to please their vote bank?” PM Modi said.

Meanwhile, Modi accused Banerjee during his Bishnupur rally and said that she was under the pressure of Muslim fundamentalists and attacking the saints and monks of the country.

“In their desperation, TMC leaders have started hurling abuses at prestigious organisations like ISKCON, Ramakrishna Mission, and Bharat Sevashram Sangha. These organisations have brought glory to Bengal, but the CM of the state claims they are ruining Bengal. Under pressure from Muslim fundamentalists, she has publicly insulted our faith,” he added.

  • ‘Rahul Gandhi Can Become Prime Minister But Of Pakistan’: Himanta Biswa Sarma |

Assam Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has been campaigning for the party candidates across states and has been quite vocal about why the NDA is vying for over 400 seats in this Lok Sabha Elections. Addressing a public meeting in Bihar’s Siwan, Sarma said that if the NDA gets 400 seats, it would not only fulfil the promise of the Uniform Civil Code but will also end ‘the business of marrying four times’. Indirectly referring to Madrasas, Sarma said that the NDA government will also ‘shut down shops that produce mullas’. He said that the ‘new India’ led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not need madrassas but modern institutions that produce doctors and engineers.

The Assam CM also added that there won’t be any reservations based on religion and the NDA government would end Muslim reservations. Sarma also said that grand temples would be built in Varanasi and Mathura if the NDA returns to power by winning over 400 Lok Sabha seats.

He was indirectly referring to Gyanvapi row in Varanasi and Shahi Idgah row in Mathura. The Assam CM said the NDA, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will ensure that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which is an integral part of India, returns to the country.

Invoking the Ram Temple to slam Congress and RJD, Sarma said, “Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Prasad did not attend the consecration of Ram Mandir. They want to send Ram Lalla back to the tent. We must not let this happen.”

Slamming the INDIA bloc over reservations based on religion, Sarma said, “Religion-based reservations should be given to Muslims in Pakistan, not India. Lalu Prasad should go to Pakistan to give reservations to Muslims. The NDA will not allow this at any cost.”

Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi’s PM ambition, Sarma said that the Congress leader can contest elections in Pakistan and become PM there. Sarma also alleged that besides putting up its own candidates, Congress and RJD are also backing Independent candidates in certain seats against BJP nominees.

  • ‘Hell Bent On Ending Reservation, Democracy And Constitution’: Lalu Yadav Warns People Against BJP |

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: RJD supremo and former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav today launched a scathing attack against the BJP alleging that the saffron party is ‘hell-bent on ending reservation and democracy’. Taking to social media amid the Lok Sabha campaign, Lalu Yadav warned people against voting for the BJP.

“Dear countrymen, Be alert and cautious! BJP is hell-bent on ending your reservation, democracy and constitution of the country. If the constitution of the country does not remain, then democracy will also not remain in the country. You will not remain equal citizens of the country. You will not remain citizens who have rights, constitutional protection and remedies. You will remain just slaves of a few people,” said the RJD chief.

The RJD is contesting the Lok Sabha polls as a part of the INDIA bloc which consists of Congress and the Left party in Bihar. The NDA consists of the BJP, LJP-RV, JDU, RLM and HAM.

Lalu Yadav further said, “If there is a constitution, then there is a reservation and if there is a reservation, then there is protection from inequality, oppression and tyranny. There is a sense of equality, there is a remedy. The BJP’s conduct is anti-equality by nature. These people want to increase inequality in society by abolishing the constitution and reservation and make people mental slaves again.”

    — Lalu Prasad Yadav (@laluprasadrjd) May 16, 2024

The RJD leader further claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi never took action against the BJP leaders who claimed that their party would end democracy and make a new constitution.

“It is clear that they (BJP leaders) have deliberately got a green signal from the top leadership of the BJP. Through such statements, BJP people test your seriousness, awareness and commitment towards reservation and constitution.  If you do not contribute today in the fight to save the Constitution, reservation and democracy, then you and your future generations will live the same vicious cycle of oppression and neglect that your ancestors once lived through,” warned Lalu Yadav.

Lalu Yadav further urged people to participate enthusiastically in this festival of democracy and ‘teach a tough lesson to the anti-Constitution and anti-reservation BJP’.

  • Third eye: Copyright on guarantees, experiencing choppy ride, and specific to region

Copyright on GuaranteesWith AAP pitting ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ against ‘Modi ki guarantee’, ‘Congress ki guarantee’ is caught between the two. Congress believes that the patent for coining pre-poll ‘guarantees’ rests with it as it first chanted the mantra during Karnataka elections and then in Telangana polls. Congress spokespersons maintain that BJP and PM aped the party’s word play by coining ‘Modi ki guarantee’, but it finds itself in a piquant situation with ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ as AAP is a sensitive ally. It can’t endorse it either as it risks eclipsing Congress’ own ‘guarantees’. While some Delhi Congress leaders are wondering how to streamline the alliance with AAP and the two, yet competing, guarantees, a little bird says at least two Congress LS candidates in Delhi are raring to chant ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’.Experiencing Choppy RideFund-strapped Opposition parties are facing a major crisis during campaigning — lack of helicopters. Apparently, helicopter companies have demanded that all political parties pay upfront 70% of hiring fee and that too in cheque. This has limited the use of choppers, making it difficult for leaders to cover more constituencies and campaign in remote areas. Last heard, Congress leaders were pushing for a chopper to campaign in the last phases. Kabulov, a former envoy to Afghanistan, is considered one of the best Afghan experts.

  • Hoarding collapse: How nod for billboard given by police instead of BMC? asks Kirit Somaiya

Mumbai: A day after a hoarding collapse in Mumbai killed 14 persons and injured several others, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya asked how the permission for erecting the billboard was given by a police officer when the city civic body is the authority for it. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the former MP also claimed permissions for the hoarding and a petrol pump (where the billboard collapsed) were given when Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister of Maharashtra.

Had the then director general of police been strict, such a hoarding would not have come up, he said.

Somaiya also said the permission on paper was given for a 40 feet hoarding whereas the billboard which collapsed was 120 feet tall. The billboard fell at a petrol pump in Ghatkopar during dust storms and unseasonal rains that lashed Mumbai on Monday, killing 14 persons and injuring 74. AllUttar PradeshMaharashtraTamil NaduWest BengalBiharKarnatakaAndhra PradeshTelanganaKeralaMadhya PradeshRajasthanDelhiOther States “An ACP of railway police, which is part of the Maharashtra state police force, gave permission for the erection of the hoarding on December 7, 2021. How can a police officer give such permission when such rights lie with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)? The permission on paper was for a 40 feet hoarding, but in reality, it was 120 feet high,” Somaiya said. “I believe that there are similar 400 hoardings in various parts of Mumbai, which are exceeding their size limits and standing on a weak foundation like the one in Ghatkopar,” he said. Somaiya said he has requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to get such dangerous hoardings removed across Mumbai immediately. The land on which the petrol pump and the hoarding came up was given to the railway police wing of the Maharashtra Police, he said.

It was then handed over to the Police Welfare Fund, Somaiya said, adding that of the total size of the land, around 40,000 square feet plot was given to some institution and later reserved for petrol pump.

“After the fuel station came up, then ACP (Admin) Shahaji Nikam of railway police gave permission for the erection of the advertisement hoarding near it. It was illegal, but nobody took it up,” he claimed.

The fuel station received permission on January 30, 2020, the BJP leader said.

“It was run by Commissioner of Police Mumbai Railway Kalyan Nidhi Sanstha, but its operations and staff management were with the Lords Mark Industries Pvt Ltd. The monthly rent of the fuel station was Rs 16,97,440,” he said.

Somaiya said he tried to find out details of the ownership of Lords Mark Industries, but its owners changed several times in the last couple of years.

“All the permissions for the fuel station and hoardings were given when Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister of Maharashtra. But I am not keen on politicising the issue. The focus should be on Bhavesh Bhinde of the Ego Media Pvt Ltd, the advertising agency responsible for erecting the hoarding near the fuel station and the police officials who gave permissions,” he said.

“Had the then director general of police been strict, such hoarding would not have come up,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra on Tuesday posted a clip on his X handle showing the hoarding collapsing and said such an incident was unacceptable.

“And we’re a city trying to transform itself into a modern metropolis. CM Shinde has ordered a probe into all hoardings. Stringent rules must follow,” he added.

A case has been registered against Bhavesh Bhinde and others for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at Pant Nagar police station, an official earlier said.

The BMC on Monday issued a notice to the advertisement agency for installing the hoarding that collapsed on the petrol pump during the gusty winds.

The Assistant Police Commissioner (Admin) had given permission for erecting four hoardings on behalf of the Commissioner of Railway Police, Mumbai, including the one which collapsed on Monday, but no official permission or NOC was obtained from the BMC, as per a civic official.
