  • ‘Congress Wants Islamisation Of India’: Yogi Adityanath Slams Religion-Based Reservation |

Amid the ongoing furore over the implementation of the religion-based reservation in Karnataka by the Congress government, the BJP has sharpened its attack on the grand old party. While Prime Minister and senior BJP leader said that the Congress is snatching the rights of OBCs, SCs and STs, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Yogi Adityanath said that the grand old party wants Islamisation of India. Yogi Adityanath further alleged that Congress is planning to implement the ‘Sharia law’ in the country.

Addressing a public rally in Amroha, Yogi said, “Congress has written in its manifesto about bringing personal laws for a particular community. Through this move, Congress aims to impose Sharia law, bringing a Taliban-style rule to India. This indicates that Congress and the INDI Alliance pose a threat to the Constitution crafted by Baba Saheb.”

The Uttar Pradesh CM further said, “Whenever the people associated with the INDI alliance got the opportunity to come to power, they have made a despicable attempt to rob the rights of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward caste people in the country as well as the rights of the poor.”

Talking about the inheritance law, wealth distribution and former PM Dr Manmohan Singh’s 2006 speech related to minorities’ first claim on resources, Yogi Adityanath said that Congress wants to seize people’s property.

“The Congress and I.N.D.I alliance members betrayed the country by presenting a deceitful manifesto. While they promise to eradicate poverty, they are secretly planning to seize your property, as well as the jewellery of your daughters and mothers,” he said.

After the first phase of voting on April 19, issues like wealth distribution, Muslim reservations and inheritance law have become key talking points from the BJP while the Congress is responding to this accusation by the Modi government.

  • M Abdul Salam: BJP’s only Muslim candidate soldiers on in LS seat with 70% Muslim voters, banking on Modi factor

Malappuram (Kerala): On the day of Eid, when people gave him angry looks at a mosque as he went around greeting people after offering namaz, BJP’s only Muslim candidate in the country, M Abdul Salam, was crestfallen. One person even refused to shake hands as a mark of disapproval of his joining the saffron party.“I never had such a bad experience,” said the 71-year-old former vice chancellor of Calicut University, who swears by the Modi model of development. In a constituency of 4 million people where 70% are Muslims, and where the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is the dominant political force, Salam started feeling unwelcome in his early days of campaigning. Unfazed, the agriculture scientist with specialisation in cashew research, went about his job, highlighting Modi’s programmes and India’s progress over the past 10 years.“Initially I had a lost feeling, but now I feel my graph is gradually going up,” the BJP candidate told ET in Malappuram, reposing his faith in women, educated youth and those Muslims dissatisfied with the report card of other parties. “Many Muslims are not aware of the good programmes of Modi ji because of the false propaganda of the UDF and LDF. But I could see that the Modi ji model of development agenda has reached the grassroots with many houses benefitted by three to six programmes.”AllUttar PradeshMaharashtraTamil NaduWest BengalBiharKarnatakaAndhra PradeshTelanganaKeralaMadhya PradeshRajasthanDelhiOther StatesSalam, locked in a contest with ET Mohammed Basheer (IUML) and V Vaseef (CPI-M), said he got a dose of confidence when a 40-year-old Muslim woman joined the BJP in his presence. The woman told him that she has a 20-year-old daughter and that with triple talaq outlawed, her daughter was safe now, Salam said. She, according to him, also told him that only Modi could bring the uniform civil code which would establish the rights of Muslim women over inheritance of family property.Salam is confident the BJP’s vote share would see a big jump this time due to the Modi factor. “Muslim women are happy with Modi as his action on triple talaq has boosted their confidence. They respect him in their hearts but cannot express it openly as they live in a closed ecosystem with limited gender equality and other restrictions,” he said, adding: “The PM wants to bring Muslims to the mainstream and make them beneficiaries of a New India.”Salam called the reports suggesting that he was not allowed to join Modi’s roadshow in Palakkad, last month, as inaccurate. “I was not invited to be part of the road show in the first place. I went there on my own to meet the PM and invite him to my (Malappuram) constituency. He agreed to visit my constituency and wished me good luck. This is the reality, but it was given a political twist.”

  • ‘We Are Not Safe…’: Mamata Banerjee Blames BJP For Threatening Her, Nephew Abhishek |

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made serious accusations against the BJP, claiming that she and her nephew, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, are being targeted and feel threatened. She said, “The BJP is targeting me and Abhishek; we are not safe.”

These allegations came a day after a statement by the Leader of Opposition in the assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, who hinted that there would be a “big explosion on Monday that will shake the TMC and its top brass,” reported PTI.

“But we are also not afraid of the saffron party’s conspiracy. We urge everyone to be on guard against a conspiracy against TMC leaders and the people of West Bengal,” she said at a rally in support of party candidate and state minister Biplab Mitra for the Balurghat Lok Sabha seat in Kumarganj.

In response to Adhikari’s remark, the TMC leader conveyed that there is an individual who has aligned with the BJP purportedly to safeguard his family and acquire assets. She asserted that his suggestion of instigating a “chocolate bomb explosion” was regarded with disdain by her party.

She emphasised that the party would expose the irregularities in the PM Care Fund and the unfulfilled promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh into each citizen’s bank account. She accused him of disseminating misinformation.

Banerjee further commented on the alteration in the colour scheme of the Doordarshan logo, indicating that all of these were done to suit the party’s agenda during he election. She said, “Why did the DD logo suddenly turn saffron? Why were the official residences of army personnel painted in saffron? Why was the uniform of police in Kashi (Varanasi) changed to saffron?” It represents yet another instance of the BJP’s authoritarian governance. Should they regain power, future elections may cease to exist, she added.

  • Shiv Sena: Fadnavis told me in 2019 he will groom Aaditya as next CM and will move to Delhi: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has claimed the then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told him in 2019 that he would groom his son Aaditya Thackeray as the next CM of Maharashtra as part of the power-sharing agreement between their parties. Thackeray also said Fadnavis, a senior BJP leader, had told him that he would move to the Centre in the next two to three years. Addressing a rally in Dharavi on Saturday, Thackeray claimed the then BJP chief Amit Shah had come to ‘Matoshree’, the private residence of the Thackerays, to seek an alliance with Shiv Sena (undivided). “At that time, Fadnavis was made to sit outside the room of late Bal Thackeray while the two leaders (Shah and Thackeray) discussed modalities,” he claimed. It was assured to me that the post of chief minister will be shared for 2.5 years (between BJP and Sena-undivided), he said. AllUttar PradeshMaharashtraTamil NaduWest BengalBiharKarnatakaAndhra PradeshTelanganaKeralaMadhya PradeshRajasthanDelhiOther States”Later, Devendra Fadnavis told me, Uddhav Ji, I will groom Aaditya for 2.5 years. We can make him CM after 2.5 years. I told him (Fadnavis) that he (Aaditya) is just starting his electoral career. Do not put anything like this in his mind,” Thackeray said. When I asked Fadnavis how a senior leader like him would work under Aaditya, he (Fadnavis) said he would move to Delhi, the former CM added. The claim evoked a sharp reaction from Fadnavis, current deputy chief minister in the Mahayuti government of BJP, Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde and NCP led by Ajit Pawar, who said Thackeray has “lost his mind”. “Uddhav Thackeray has become ‘bhramishta’ (delirious). He is hallucinating. Initially, he said Amit Shah promised him a chief ministership in some room. Now he says I promised to make his son a CM. To hide one falsehood, another lie is being told,” Fadnavis said.

He, however, admitted to having told Thackeray that Aaditya should be trained as he will eventually take control of the party (Shiv Sena) one day.

“Leave alone making him (Aaditya) a chief minister, I wouldn’t make him even a minister. He (Aaditya) became a minister later (when MVA was in power) which landed the Shiv Sena (UBT) in its current situation today,” Fadnavis said.

In his speech, Thackeray slammed Fadnavis for his reference to “some room” during his talks with Shah and said the room of Bal Thackeray is like a temple.

Later Fadnavis posted on X, “We respect late Balasaheb Thackeray because he was always true to his word and never deviated from his ideals. We don’t respect those who sacrificed the ideals of the late leader.”

“Who are you trying to fool by speaking imagined scripts? You are misleading yourself,” he stated while slamming Thackeray.

Fadnavis further said that Maharashtra’s “socio-politics” and development is not a “Salim-Javed” script.

“You have nothing to do with politics and development. So don’t try to get involved in such scripts. You will get a befitting reply,” he said.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said there is a limit to speaking lies.

“He (Uddhav) wanted to become chief minister. As he couldn’t become a CM when he was part of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance, he switched sides,” Shinde told reporters, referring to Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (undivided) joining hands with the NCP (undivided) and the Congress after the 2019 assembly elections.

Notably, a split engineered by Shinde led to the collapse of the Thackeray-led MVA government in June 2022.

  • Bengaluru water crisis: ‘From tech city to tanker city’: PM Modi blames Congress mismanagement for Bengaluru’s water crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress government in Karnataka for mismanaging Bengaluru’s infrastructure, particularly highlighting the severe water crisis in parts of the city. He highlighted the issue of water rationing and penalties for excessive water usage, accusing the Congress government of turning the tech hub into a city dependent on water tankers controlled by a mafia.”The Congress government in Karnataka has turned the tech city into a tanker city, and left it to the tanker mafia,” he said. Modi accused the Congress of being against the private sector, taxpayers, and wealth creation. He emphasized his focus on India’s development and global reputation, contrasting it with the opposition’s focus solely on him.”The Congress is anti-private sector, anti-taxpayer, and anti-wealth creator… the (Opposition bloc) INDIA’s focus is on Modi, but my focus is on India’s development, its global image,” he said.AllUttar PradeshMaharashtraTamil NaduWest BengalBiharKarnatakaAndhra PradeshTelanganaKeralaMadhya PradeshRajasthanDelhiOther StatesModi mocked the opposition alliance, stating they’re stuck on repeat while he and his allies showcase their accomplishments. • AAP’s allegation of plot to kill Arvind Kejriwal in jail ‘completely false’: BJP

The BJP on Friday dismissed as “completely false” the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegation of a plot to kill Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail, and said the party should refrain from making such “sensational statements”. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, party spokesperson Shazia Ilmi said, “All of us wish for his long life. We would all like him to be in good health. More than us, the jail administration would like to ensure that their patients (inmates) are taken care of.” “Why would any government agency or jail administration want to be held responsible for his (deteriorating) health conditions and try to put his life in danger? Why would anybody do such things?” she asked. The BJP’s reaction came after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh on Friday reiterated his party’s allegation that a conspiracy was being hatched against Kejriwal and anything can happen to him in the prison. Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi had on Thursday alleged that there was a plot to kill Kejriwal, arrested by the ED in the Delhi excise policy case, by allegedly denying him home-cooked food and insulin in jail, a charge rejected by the prison authorities. AllUttar PradeshMaharashtraTamil NaduWest BengalBiharKarnatakaAndhra PradeshTelanganaKeralaMadhya PradeshRajasthanDelhiOther States “Such kind of allegations are completely false. The Aam Aadmi Party should refrain from making such sensational statements,” Ilmi told reporters when asked for the BJP’s reaction to the AAP leaders’ accusation. The BJP spokesperson also rejected Atishi’s allegation that Kejriwal was denied insulin in jail and said, “No jail in India would do this. We are a very responsible democracy.” “I don’t think it is possible to even deny insulin to a diabetic patient (lodged in jail), no matter if the person is a chief minister or somebody else,” she added.
