Police reported that the student, Rishi Nair, was found unresponsive on his bed. Authorities gained access to his room after he failed to answer phone calls. The incident occurred around 10:45 am, and the cause of death is currently under investigation. This marks the fifth such instance since December 2024, following the deaths of students Om Priyan Singh, Krishna Kasera, Kushagra Jain, and Atharv Desai in their hostel rooms. The university administration has yet to release a formal statement. The incident has caused shock within the academic community. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed the formation of a committee, under the collector’s supervision, to investigate these occurrences.
