The bike ambulance was used keeping in mind the easy availability of health services. Initially in the district, the first two bike ambulances were run in small river-drains, trails, bumpy paths of inner ellipses, which succeeded. Seeing its success, the motor bike ambulance has been expanded to further improve health services in the district. This year, 4 new motor bike ambulances have been given to the Health Department from the Mineral Trust Fund. This will facilitate transportation of patients from the inner region to health centers.
The Baik Ambulance is proving to be a boon for children and pregnant women living in remote and inaccessible Vananchal in the Madia dominated Orchha development block. Childbirth is a difficult time for pregnant women and it can become a period of life and death. In the districts of inner Elakay, where the ambulance could not be reached or the road is not available, the women of those places can be rescued from the problem during childbirth, for this the bike ambulance is being resorted in the district. This is nothing less than a boon for women in childbirth.
Explain that so far 666 patients have got direct benefit of this facility due to the services of bike ambulance. Pregnant women of Vananchal area are brought to the health center for institutional delivery through a bike ambulance and infant mothers are also taken to a safe home after delivery. Along with this, a bike ambulance is also used for regular health testing of pregnant mothers, vaccination of children and treatment of seasonal diseases. Infant and maternal mortality have also decreased with the arrival of a bike ambulance.
