Bhupesh Baghel during his two-day stay in Raigad district inaugurated and performed bhumi poojan of Narva development works worth Rs 1.43 crore in Chakradharpur drain passing through Junwani village today. He also visited the drain. The Chief Minister said that fruitful trees should be planted on both sides of the drain. So that the wildlife and villagers can get economic benefits. Conservation work is being done on this drain from Campa item by the Forest Department under Narva Development Scheme. It is worth mentioning that Dhengur Nalla and Ranidaraha Nalla together form the Chakradharpur Nalla and join the Kelo River in Raigad.
Forest Department officials said that covering about 11 thousand hectares of area, it travels 35 kilometers long. There are 9 villages around the drain. A population of about one and a half thousand is going to get direct benefits. To stop the water on the drain, water has now started to be constructed by constructing various structures. People are now starting to cultivate greens and vegetables on their fields along the banks of the drain. DFO Shri Pranay Mishra informed that in the year 2019-20, works of Narva development have been done on 8 drains. Works worth Rs. 3.2 crores have been done on 8 drains including Chakradharpur drain from Campa item. He said that 208 loose boulders, 69 brushwoods, 49 gabions and 3 stop dams have been built in Chakradharpur drain. He said that this is a wild elephant affected area. Elephants will get sufficient water due to water supply on the drain and in search of water the population will control the movement of elephants in the area. On this occasion, Agriculture Minister and in-charge Minister of the district Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Higher Education Minister Mr. Umesh Patel, MLA Mr. Laljit Singh Rathia, MLA Mr. Prakash Naik, MLA Mr. Chakradhar Singh Sidar and MLA Mrs. North Jangade including Collector Mr. Bhim Singh, Superintendent of Police Shri Santosh Singh, DFO Shri Pranay Mishra, CEO Zilla Panchayat Ms. Richa Prakash Chaudhary along with Forest Management Committee and Gram Panchayat officials were also present.
