A Bhopal couple, initially drawn together by their mutual affection for animals, found their marriage dissolving after just nine months due to conflicts arising from their pets. The husband, an IT professional working from home, and his wife, originally from Uttar Pradesh and employed in Bhopal, connected over their shared passion for animals. Their relationship blossomed, leading to marriage. However, after moving in together, tensions surfaced when the wife’s cats began interacting negatively with the husband’s dog. The husband stated that he had expressed his preference for not having the wife bring her pets prior to the marriage, while the wife insisted on bringing her cats. Adding to the discord, the wife’s cat would frequently approach the fish tank, causing further strain. Attempts at reconciliation, including family counseling, were unsuccessful, and the couple ultimately filed for divorce. Family counselor Shail Awasthi observed that the issue extended beyond the pets themselves, highlighting increasing isolation within families. He noted that people sometimes prioritize their pets over human relationships, leading to marital breakdowns when neither partner is willing to compromise, reflecting a trend of people taking relationships lightly, believing that pets can substitute for human bonds.

The controversial 90-degree railway overbridge (ROB) in Bhopal is slated for a redesign, prompted by significant public criticism and media attention. The Central Expert Committee has advised improvements to the bridge’s hazardous design, specifically recommending an increase in the turn radius from 6 meters to 16.7 meters. This modification aims to eliminate the sharp turn, enhancing safety for heavy vehicles. The overbridge connects heavily populated areas like Aishbagh, experiencing substantial daily traffic. Design flaws have caused persistent traffic jams and increased accident risks, leading to sustained complaints from residents and commuters. The recommended changes are expected to provide considerable relief to those affected. A new detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared based on the committee’s recommendation, and submitted to the state government and the Municipal Corporation. The redesign will be overseen by the railways and the construction agency, with officials stating minimal impact on the project timeline. Initially budgeted at Rs 17.37 crore, the ROB project commenced on May 21, 2022, with an original completion target of August 2024, though it remains unfinished as of August 2025. Following the viral spread of images highlighting the bridge’s issues in June, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav intervened, resulting in the suspension of eight engineers and blacklisting of the construction agency and design firm.

Authorities have uncovered another illegal drug manufacturing operation in Bhopal, raising concerns about the city’s growing role in synthetic narcotics production. The latest bust, conducted on Monday in Jagdishpur, Islam Nagar, on the outskirts of Bhopal, was executed by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) as part of “Operation Crystal Break.” With assistance from the Surat and Mumbai Police, the DRI seized 61.2 kg of Mephedrone (MD) and 541.53 kg of precursor chemicals, with an estimated value of nearly ₹162 crore. Seven individuals allegedly connected to a foreign drug kingpin were arrested. This follows the earlier discovery of a drug factory in the Bagroda Industrial Area near Katara Hills in Bhopal. That operation, led by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Narcotics Control Bureau in Delhi, exposed a syndicate producing 907 kg of Mephedrone, valued at over ₹1,800 crore. The syndicate operated under the guise of a fertilizer business, running a sophisticated drug manufacturing facility unbeknownst to local authorities. Subsequent crackdowns revealed that similar cartels were active in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Two supply handlers were apprehended in Mumbai, and a hawala operator was arrested, exposing the financial network of the syndicate. More recently, the arrests of a Nigerian national and a Thai woman have been linked to the MDMA network operated by Shahwar Ahmed and Yasin Ahmed. The city is evolving from a transit point to a hub for large-scale drug production.

Passengers awaiting the arrival of the Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains in Madhya Pradesh will have to wait longer. Initially planned to commence in October, the launch of…

Passengers awaiting the arrival of the Vande Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat trains in Madhya Pradesh will have to wait longer. Initially planned to commence in October, the launch of these trains has been postponed. It is now anticipated that both trains could begin operations in December.

The introduction of these high-speed trains will reduce travel time between Bhopal and Patna, as well as Bhopal and Lucknow. Currently, over 15 trains operate between Bhopal and Lucknow, while 8 trains run between Bhopal and Patna. These existing trains often experience a waiting list of 40-60 passengers.

According to railway sources, the infrastructure work required before the trains can begin operation is in its final stages. Both trains will originate from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal. Special washing pit lines are being prepared at Rani Kamalapati Railway Station for these trains. A ROH (Routine Overhauling) shed is also under construction, where maintenance of the Vande Bharat Express will be carried out. This work is expected to be completed by October.

The Amrit Bharat train will consist of 20 coaches. An official from the Bhopal railway division stated that these trains will be highly effective in connecting Bhopal to Lucknow and Patna quickly. Plans are in place to operate an 8-coach sitting Vande Bharat train for Bhopal to Lucknow, and a 20-coach sleeper Amrit Bharat Express for Bhopal to Patna. The full launch of these trains is expected by the end of the year.

Upon their launch, these trains will make travel between Bhopal and Lucknow and Bhopal and Patna easier and more convenient for passengers. The 8-coach Vande Bharat train from Bhopal to Lucknow will offer both chair car and executive class options. This high-speed train will cover the Bhopal to Lucknow journey in 8 to 9 hours. Similarly, the Amrit Bharat Express from Bhopal to Patna will save passengers time while providing a better travel experience. This train will also offer sleeper accommodations.
