The result was disappointing. Hetmyer’s bat failed to ignite, and this marked the third time in CPL 2025 that the team faced a setback that every team tries to avoid. Hetmyer, representing the Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2025, lost to St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 5 runs. This was the third loss for Guyana in the seven matches played so far this season.

Before the match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the current season of the Caribbean Premier League, a video emerged showing Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali providing batting practice to Shimron Hetmyer. The President did so by throwing numerous balls to him. During the session, the President also discussed some batting techniques with Hetmyer, possibly offering him some tips.

So, what happened to Shimron Hetmyer in the match after the practice session conducted by the President? The answer is that his performance was very poor. Expectations of explosive batting were high from Hetmyer after the practice. However, he couldn’t even reach double figures. Shimron Hetmyer was out after scoring only 9 runs, cleaned bowled by Naseem Shah, the bowler from St. Kitts.

Hetmyer’s team, the Guyana Amazon Warriors, mirrored his fate, losing by 5 runs. St. Kitts and Patriots, batting first, scored 149 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Guyana’s team managed to score only 144 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match.

This is the third loss for Guyana in the 7 matches played in CPL 2025. St. Kitts has secured their third win in the 9 matches played.
