  • Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s ‘Babylon’ to have a Christmas release

    Babylon, the upcoming film starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie in the lead roles, will release in time for Christmas on December 23 in the US.

    The film is directed by Damien Chazelle. The film also stars Diego Calva, Tobey Maguire, Max Minghella, Spike Jonze, Jean Smart, Flea, Samara Weaving, Olivia Wilde, Jovan Adepo and Li Jun Li.

    Babylon is a period film that takes place in the late 20s and is set against the backdrop of Hollywood’s period of transition from silent films to talkies. While Brad Pitt plays a leading actor, Margot Robbie essays an upcoming young actor.

    Babylon was scheduled to release in theatres on December 25 in selected theatres, before a nationwide release on January 6.

    However, it was later rescheduled after Tom Hanks- starrer A Man Called Otto is coming on December 25 before expanding nationwide on January 13.

    According to Chazelle, Babylon is inspired by films like Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, Robert Altman’s Nashville and The Godfather.

    The trailer of Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle’s period drama Babylon was released online on Tuesday. The uncensored trailer vividly captures the wild, jazzy, side of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

    Billed as a comedy-drama, Babylon is set in an era when films were only transitioning and evolving from silent films to talkies.

    The ensemble cast includes industry heavyweights including Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, along with Tobey Maguire, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, and Jean Smart in supporting roles. Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, Babylon is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 25.

    Chazelle finished the script in 2019 and the filming was supposed to take place in 2020. Due to COVID concerns, the principal photography was postponed several times. The production eventually wrapped up in October 2021. Chazelle described the filming experience as, “the hardest shoot I have ever had.”

  • Brad Pitt to headline an F1 racing film

    Brad Pitt is set to star as the lead in a film based on Formula One racing. The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who is also behind the yet-to-be-released Tom Cruise actioner Top Gun: Maverick.

    While the story of the film is currently under tight wraps, reports suggest that screenwriter Ehren Kruger, who has also collaborated with Kosinski on Top Gun: Maverick, is on board to pen the script. Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer behind blockbuster franchises such as Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure, will be serving as the producer on the untitled project.

    According to reports, major studios such as MGM, Sony, Universal, Disney, Netflix, Apple, and Amazon are competing to acquire distribution rights of the film. On the other hand, Pitt has The Lost City, Bullet Train, and Babylon.

  • Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde and Spike Jonze join ‘Babylon’

    Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, Phoebe Tonkin and Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze are set to join Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon.

    The film co-stars Jovan Adepo, Katherine Waterston, Li Jun Li, Max Minghella, Lukas Haas, Rory Scovel, Samara Weaving, Eric Roberts, PJ Byrne, Damon Gupton and Flea.

    Chazelle’s wife, Olivia Hamilton, is producing with Marc Platt and Matthew Plouffe, while Maguire is executive producing alongside Adam Siegel and Helen Estabrook. The film’s production is slated to start next week in Los Angeles, and Chazelle. As of now, Babylon isn’t slated to hit select theatres until December 25, 2022 and would most likely release world wide on January 6, 2023.

    Wilde recently wrapped her directorial thriller Don’t Worry Darling starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine and Harry Styles. She’ll next direct the gymnastics drama Perfect starring Thomasin McKenzie as Kerri Strug, and she’s also attached to direct a Spider-Woman film for Sony. Maguire hasn’t been seen on the big screen since the 2014 chess drama Pawn Sacrifice. As for Tonkin, she starred in The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals.

    Katherine Waterston is the latest addition to the cast of Damien Chazelle’s upcoming film Babylon. The casting announcement makes her the latest actor to join the star-studded ensemble cast that includes the likes of Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li.

    Babylon is reportedly set in 1920s Hollywood, a period that marked the film industry’s shift from the silent era to talkies. Further details related to the film are currently kept under tight wraps.In addition to Waterson, Max Minghella, Flea, Samara Weaving, Rory Scovel, Lukas Haas, Eric Roberts, PJ Byrne, and Damon Gupton were reported to recently have joined the period drama.

    Chazelle, whose last directorial First Man, starring Ryan Gosling released in 2018, has also penned the screenplay for Babylon. The film is scheduled to release on Jan 6, 2023. Meanwhile, Katherine Waterson was last seen in the TV series The Third Day and is also set to appear in the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts series.

    Actor Diego Calva, known for starring in I Promise You Anarchy and the Netflix series Unstoppable, has joined the cast of filmmaker Damien Chazelle’s upcoming feature Babylon.

    Babylon is written and directed by Chazelle. Touted as a drama set in the golden age of Hollywood, the film’s ensemble cast includes Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li.

    Though there are no plot details available as of now, the story is said to be set during the movie industry’s transition from silent films to talkies in the 1920s. The film is produced by Marc Platt, Olivia Hamilton, Matthew Plouffe, and Tobey Maguire. 

    Paramount Pictures film has set the film for a Christmas Day 2022 release and a January 6, 2023 expansion date. Meanwhile, Calva will next be seen in the third season of Netflix’s Narcos:  Mexico.

    Paramount Pictures has announced that Oscar-winning filmmaker Damian Chazelle’s next Babylon will be released in the US theatres on December 25, 2022. According to reports, the film will have a limited theatrical release on Christmas 2022, followed by a worldwide release on January 6, 2023. Starring Hollywood star Brad Pitt in the lead, Chazelle will direct the movie from his own screenplay.

    Brad PittMargot Robbie is still in negotiations to join the cast after Emma Stone, who won an Oscar for best actress for Chazelle’s 2016 movie La La Land, left the project over scheduling issues. Exact plot details are currently under wraps, but the story is said to be set during the movie industry’s transition from silent films to talkies in the 1920s.

    Robbie is in talks to play the role of Clara Bow, the early sex symbol and box office star of the movie industry. Pitt will play a fictional silent film star who fails to make the transition to the new technology. The part is rumoured to be based on real-life figure John Gilbert. Marc Platt, who produced La La Land, is one of the producers of Babylon along with Olivia Hamilton, Matthew Plouffe and Tobey Maguire.
