Keeping in view the growth and reproduction of fishes in the coming rainy season, on the direction of Collector Pushpendra Kumar Meena, under Section 3 of the Chhattisgarh River Fisheries Act 1972, in the state, under Section 3 of the Sub-section 2 of the Chhattisgarh River Fisheries Act, issued an order by the Assistant Director Fisheries. The period from June to August 15 has been declared as “Band Ritu” (close season).
In all the rivers and streams and small rivers and tributaries of Chhattisgarh state, on which irrigation ponds, large or small reservoirs have been built. Apart from the cage culture being done in it, all types of fishing will be completely prohibited from 16 June to 15 August 2019. For violation of these rules, there is a provision of imprisonment for one year or fine of 10000 rupees or both together on conviction under Chhattisgarh State Fisheries Amendment Act-3 (5). These rules will not be applicable only in case of cage culture being carried out in reservoirs other than small ponds or other water sources which are not related to any river channel.
