  • PM Modi’s total assets rise by Rs 26 lakh to Rs 2.23 crore; land holding donated

    NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi owns assets worth over Rs 2.23 crore, mostly as bank deposits, but has no immovable properties as he has donated his share in a piece of land in Gandhinagar, according to his latest disclosure about assets.

    He has no investment in any bond, share or mutual funds, does not own any vehicle, but has four gold rings valued at Rs 1.73 lakh, according to his declaration updated till March 31.

    Modi’s movable assets rose by Rs 26.13 lakh from a year ago, but he no longer owns the immovable assets which were worth Rs 1.1 crore as on March 31, 2021.

    His assets total Rs 2,23,82,504 as on March 31, 2022, according to details uploaded on the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) website.

    The residential plot he jointly held with three other owners, each having an equal share, was purchased by him in October 2002 when he was the chief minister of Gujarat.

    The latest update said, “Immovable property Survey No. 401/A was jointly held with three other joint owners and each having an equal share of 25 per cent is no more owned by the self as the same has been donated.”

    The cash in hand with the prime minister as on March 31, 2022 was Rs 35,250 and his National Savings Certificates with post office were worth Rs 9,05,105 and had life insurance policies valued Rs 1,89,305.

    Among the prime minister’s Cabinet colleagues who have declared their assets, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has movables worth Rs 2.54 crore and immovable assets worth 2.97 crore as on March 31, 2022.

    Of all the 29 Cabinet ministers, the ones who have declared their own and their dependents’ assets for the last fiscal also include Dharmendra Pradhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia, R K Singh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Parshottam Rupala and G Kishan Reddy.

    Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who was a Cabinet minister in the last fiscal and demitted office in July, has also declared his assets.

  • Punjab polls: Amarinder’s assets worth Rs 63.73 crore

    CHANDIGARH: A farmhouse in Mohali’s Siswan, ancestral Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala, diamond and gold jewellery are among the total assets worth Rs 68.73 crore declared by former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh during the filing of his papers for the Assembly polls here.

    Singh was accompanied by BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during the submission of his papers from the Patiala Urban seat.

    According to his affidavit, Singh owns moveable assets worth Rs 10.42 crore. He owns immovable assets worth 58.31 crores. The 79-year-old scion of the erstwhile Patiala royal family has no vehicle in his name.

    He declared gold jewellery, including diamonds, worth Rs 51. 68 lakh while his wife has gold jewellery worth Rs 37.75 lakh. He has shown agricultural and non-agricultural land in Haridwar, Shimla, and Mohali.

    Singh, under his Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) category, has declared Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala, an inherited property, having a market value of Rs 35 crore and a farmhouse in Mohali’s Siswan worth Rs 12.50 crore.

    He also declared total liabilities of Rs 9.26 crore. He declared his total income at Rs 39.99 lakh for 2020-21.

    Singh served as the chief minister of Punjab twice. But he could not complete his last tenure as the Congress unseated him from the post of the chief minister in September last year amid a bitter power tussle with Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu.

    Voting for Punjab’s 117 Assembly seats will be held on February 20 and the counting will take place on March 10.

  • Former IAS officer Babulal Agarwal attached assets worth Rs 27.86 crore

    Ex-Chhattisgarh IAS officer Babulal Agarwal has attached assets worth more than Rs 27 crore by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED gave this information on Saturday.

    The ED is investigating Aggarwal, his family members and others in connection with a case of alleged corruption and money laundering involving more assets than a known source of income.

    “The attached assets include plant and machinery, deposits and immovable assets in the bank accounts of Babulal Agarwal and his family members,” he said in a statement. He said the attached assets are worth Rs 27.86 crore.

    Agarwal, a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, was arrested by the ED on November 9 from his residence in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. He is in judicial custody till December 5.

    The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its latest report on the ‘world economic scenario’ has said that India will overtake China next year. The IMF said that India’s economy is expected to decline in the current financial year due to Corona, but the economy will be able to make a quantum leap in the next financial year. The International Monetary Fund has said that the Indian economy is expected to register a strong growth of 8.8 percent in 2021 and will regain the status of the fastest growing emerging economy, overtaking China. China is projected to achieve 8.2 percent growth in 2021.
