The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken decisive action by suspending former Union Minister RK Singh and two other party members for alleged anti-party activities. Singh, who previously held the important portfolio of Power Minister and served as Union Home Secretary, has been outspoken in his criticism of corruption and factionalism within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He also openly questioned the Election Commission’s efficacy in managing law and order during the recent Bihar Assembly elections, citing the violence in Mokama as a significant administrative and electoral body failure. Singh had publicly urged Bihar voters to reject candidates with criminal records, a stance that included opposition to certain NDA figures. This suspension highlights the BJP’s commitment to internal discipline following electoral victories, while also indicating underlying dissent within the party’s ranks. In a related development, Bihar BJP also suspended MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal for allegedly fielding Agarwal’s son, Saurav Agarwal, as a VIP candidate from Katihar, a move deemed contrary to party directives. Both Ashok and Usha Agarwal have been asked to provide explanations within a week.

In a significant move following the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended senior leader and former Union Minister R.K. Singh for six years due to alleged ‘severe anti-party activities.’ The disciplinary action, announced on Saturday, signals a strong stance against internal dissent within the party’s Bihar unit.

Singh, a former Union Home Secretary and ex-Power Minister, had been vocal in his criticism of the NDA leadership and the prevailing law and order situation in Bihar. His public critiques targeted corruption allegations against leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, urging them to step down or clarify their positions. Furthermore, Singh had controversially advised voters to reject candidates with criminal backgrounds, even naming allies within the NDA. He also publicly questioned the Election Commission’s handling of poll-related violence, particularly in Mokama.

The party’s disciplinary sweep extended to other key figures. Bihar BJP MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal were also suspended for ‘anti-party activities.’ Their suspension is reportedly linked to Ashok Agarwal fielding his son, Saurav Agarwal, as a VIP candidate from Katihar against party directives. The Agarwals have been given one week to submit a written reply to the charges.

Singh’s strong condemnation of the law and order situation gained prominence after a violent incident in Mokama where a Jan Suraaj supporter was murdered. This event, which critics labeled a ‘jungle raj’ symptom, led to the suspension of two police officers. Singh’s public criticism underscored concerns about governance and administrative failures.
