  • Ben Affleck’s return in Aquaman sequel confirmed by Jason Momoa

    Actor Jason Momoa made a revelation that Ben Affleck will appear onscreen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the upcoming sequel of Aquaman film, as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

    Making the revelation on Instagram, Momoa wrote, “REUNITED bruce and Arthur. Love u and miss u Ben. WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. Busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha.”

    Momoa also posted a couple of photos and videos during the studio tour on his Instagram. However, it is to be noted that it is not yet confirmed how Ben Affleck’s character will be woven into the Aquaman storyline and if both Bruce Wayne and Batman characters will appear in the film.

    Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Momoa has also co-written the story for the sequel. The film went on floors in June 2021 and was wrapped up in January. Apart from Jason and Ben, others part of the cast are Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman. The film is set to release theatrically on March 17, 2023.

  • Warner Bros delays ‘Black Adam’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman 2’

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood studio Warner Bros has reshuffled its superhero movie slate as it announced new release dates for many much-awaited titles.

    Dwayne Johnson-led ‘Black Adam”, Ezra Miller’s “The Flash” and “Aquaman 2”, starring Jason Momoa, are among the major movies to be pushed back due to “COVID-induced production delays with visual effects”, reported Variety.

    “Black Adam”, which will mark Johnson’s entry into the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), has been pushed back by three months — from July 29 to October 21, 2022.

    “The Flash”, Miller’s first solo outing as the speeding superhero The Flash, and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, the sequel to 2018 blockbuster “Aquaman”, will now be released in 2023.

    “The Flash” has been moved from November 4, 2022, to June 23, 2023, while “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will debut in theatres on March 17, 2023, instead of earlier date December 16, 2022.

    Animated feature “DC League of Super-Pets”, in which Johnson voices Superman’s canine best friend, Krypto the Super-Dog, also saw its release date moved back from May 20, 2022 to July 29, 2022.

    Meanwhile, Zachary Levi’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” has been moved up as the film will now release on June 2, 2023.

    The film, which is a sequel to the actor’s 2019 movie”, was earlier slated for December 12, 2022.

    In non-superhero release moves, Warner Bros announced that Timothee Chalamet-starrer “Wonka” will now release on December 15, 2023. The musical film was previously set for debut in theatres on March 17, 2023.

    Another film, “Meg 2: The Trench”, starring Jason Statham, has received an official release date. The film, which is a sequel to British actor’s 2018 film “The Meg”, will release on August 4, 2023.

    WASHINGTON: Warner Bros has recently unveiled the first-look footage from Jason Momoa-starrer upcoming superhero film ‘Aquaman and the Lost City’.

    The studio took to their official Instagram handle to share a video clip, providing glimpses to their upcoming lineup of highly-anticipated superhero films including ‘The Flash’ and Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’.

    In the compilation video titled ‘The World Needs Heroes,’ the ‘Aquaman’ sequel footage is the shortest of the bunch, with brief shots of star Jason Momoa in front of ancient ruins and on the Atlantean throne.

    “What could be greater than a king? A Hero” Momoa says, an audio clip lifted from 2018’s ‘Aquaman’.

    The studio also provided a first look glimpse at Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate in the upcoming ‘Black Adam’, as well as a glimpse of the rest of the ‘Justice Society of America’: Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindel). The film is headlined by Dwayne Johnson who is playing Black Adam that is slated to release on July 29, 2022.

    Ezra Miller’s look in his new speedy superhero suit for his long-awaited ‘The Flash’ stand-alone film was also notable in the video.

    The studio first has ‘The Batman’ starring Robert Pattinson that is slated to release in theatres on March 4; then, ‘Black Adam’ which will debut on July 29; ‘The Flash’, which is coming on November 4. And finally, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ will open in theatres on December 16.

  • Jason Momoa reveals sustaining multiple injuries during ‘Aquaman 2’ shoot

    WASHINGTON: It’s not at all easy for actor Jason Momoa to shoot ‘Aquaman 2’ as he suffered multiple injuries on the sets. During the latest episode of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, Jason opened up about the injuries, reported Fox News.

    “I’m getting old…I messed up my eyes. I just got something in it that kinda cut it up, and then I’ve gotta get surgery, I have a hernia, I’ve got ribs out. I’m just getting beat up,” he shared.

    Jason is no stranger to injuring himself. He had earlier revealed that he once broke his femur and injured his face, leaving a scar. Reportedly, he was also hit by a stuntman while filming ‘Braven’ in 2018.

  • ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ adds Indya Moore, Jani Zhao and Vincent Regan to cast

    LOS ANGELES: Actors Jani Zhao, Indya Moore and Vincent Regan have joined the cast of the upcoming “Aquaman” sequel, fronted by Jason Momoa.

    Randall Park will reprise his role of Dr Stephen Shin, a marine biologist obsessed with finding the lost city of Atlantis, in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” from the Warner Bros/ DC film.

    “Aquaman”, which was released in 2018, featured Momoa as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, a half-Atlantean, half-human who sets out to lead the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and stop his half-brother, King Orm, from uniting the seven underwater kingdoms to destroy the surface world.

    Besides Momoa, Patrick Wilson is also coming back as Orm, along with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Amber Heard as Mera and Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, plot details are being kept underwater but the new additions may reveal some scope to the story.

    Zhao, a Portuguese actress of Chinese descent, will play Stingray, a mystery character specially created for the sequel.

    “Pose” star Moore features in the role of the longtime DC character Karshon.

    The character was originally a Green Lantern villain who was originally a shark that, after being hit with radiation, gained intelligence and telepathic powers.

    British thespian Regan stars as Atlan, the ancient ruler of Atlantis who caused the city to sink into the sea.

    The character appeared briefly in the 2018 “Aquaman” movie and was then portrayed by Graham McTavish.

    Regan is known for films like “300” and “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”.

    James Wan, who directed “Aquaman”, is returning to direct the much-anticipated follow-up. He is also producing the film with Peter Safran.

    David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is also coming back to pen the script.

    “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is slated to be released on December 16, 2022.

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Jason Momoa has unveiled his new superhero suit from “Aquaman” sequel.

    Titled “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, the sequel is once again being directed by filmmaker James Wan.

    Momoa took to Instagram and shared two images of himself as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.

    In the first image, he is sporting the classic green and orange suit from the first blockbuster film, which came out in 2018.

    The second image gives a glimpse of his dark new suit for the sequel.

    “Second round. New suit. More action. #aquaman Aloha,” he wrote in the caption.

    Wan also posted the looks on his Instagram account and revealed that the new “stealth suit” has camouflaging ability.

    “Here’s @prideofgypsies in the classic #Aquaman suit and a sneak peek at his other outfit, the stealth suit. Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability. David Leslie Johnson and I were inspired by the 80’s ‘blue suit’,” he posted.

    “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will also feature Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane / Black Manta.

    The movie will be produced by DC Films, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions.

    The movie is scheduled to be released in the US on December 16, 2022.

  • James Wan reveals title for ‘Aquaman 2’

    LOS ANGELES: The much-awaited sequel to Warner Bros’ 2018 superhero hit “Aquaman” has been titled “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”.

    Filmmaker James Wan, who directed the Jamon Momoa-led first part, shared the news in a post on Instagram on Thursday.

    Wan posted an image from a production meeting, which featured the title as “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”, in what looks to be a potential logo for the film.

    “The tide is rising,” he captioned the photo.

    “Aquaman” featured Momoa as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, a half-Atlantean, half-human who sets out to lead the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and stop his half-brother, King Orm, from uniting the seven underwater kingdoms to destroy the surface world.

    The film, which released in December 2018, grossed more than USD 1 billion at the global box office.

    The sequel will also mark the return of Amber Heard as Mera and Patrick Wilson back as Orm.

    Wan is producing alongside Peter Safran, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick returning to pen the script.
