    By Express News Service

BHOPAL: First-time BJP MP from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat and 2008 Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur has received a death threat over the phone from a man posing as the aide of India’s most wanted fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar.

The WhatsApp call to the BJP MP was made from the same phone number which was used for a similar death threat to ex-UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav’s younger daughter-in-law and UP BJP leader Aparna Yadav on Wednesday.

The caller posing as Iqbal Kaskar’s man told Thakur through a WhatsApp call that she would be killed for targeting Muslims and spreading venom against the minority community.

A 2.05 minutes video showing the first-time lawmaker talking to the caller has gone viral over social media. A case has subsequently been registered on the BJP MP’s complaint u/s 506 and 507 IPC against the unidentified caller at Bhopal’s TT Nagar police station on Saturday morning.

Thakur received the WhatsApp call at around 1 am on Saturday, a short while after she had returned home from the BJP office in Bhopal.

In the viral video, the caller is heard telling Thakur that she would be assassinated soon for spewing venom against the Muslims, on which she asks the caller “do the Muslims sprinkle nectar. What did I utter that pained you?”

When she asked the caller, who is Iqbal Kaskar, the caller responded that she would come to know about it when she will be killed.

The death threat WhatsApp call happened just a few days after Thakur defended and suspended BJP national spokesperson Nupur Sharma for the latter’s controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad.

Primary investigations into the matter by Bhopal police revealed that the death threat call was made to Thakur from the same number which was used for a death threat to another BJP leader and ex-UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav three days back, Bhopal police sources told The New Indian Express.

Three days back, a caller had through a WhatsApp call threatened to kill Aparna Yadav within 72 hours.

The common phone number from which death threats were made to Aparna Yadav and Pragya Thakur within three days was being operated from Dubai, sources privy to the ongoing investigations confided.Further investigations are underway.

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joined the BJP on Wednesday.

She joined the party in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and and its state chief Swatantra Dev Singh.

She is married to Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife while SP president Akhilesh Yadav is his son from the first marriage.

Aparna Yadav said she has always been impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and added that the nation’s interest has always been her priority.

There had been much speculation about her joining the BJP, and the development highlights the rift in the SP’s ruling family at a time when Akhilesh Yadav has been working to rally the party’s base in the run up to the state assembly polls.

The BJP may field her in the polls, sources said.

Aparna Yadav had contested the 2017 assembly polls on the Samajwadi Party ticket from Lucknow Cantt but had lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi, now a Lok Sabha member.

Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases beginning from February 10.

  • Mulayam Singh built toilets for women but didn’t click photos, unlike BJP leaders: Aparna Yadav

    By PTI

AMETHI: Taking a dig at the BJP, Aparna Yadav on Sunday claimed her father-in-law, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, built toilets for women but never got his photos clicked, unlike leaders of the current government.

She was addressing a meeting here.

“Netaji got toilets built for women and he was also the first to give gas cylinders to them, but never got his photographs clicked. However, the current government gets its pictures clicked. The SP has worked (for the people), hence, you should help in the formation of an SP government,” said Aparna Yadav, who is the wife of Mulayam Singh’s younger son Prateek Yadav.

She said the prices of petrol and diesel are rising, and “if they are not brought down, the public will undertake a cycle yatra. I will also take out a cycle yatra”.

Hitting out at Amethi MP and Union minister Smriti Irani, without taking her name, she said, “Big things are being spoken about when it comes to Amethi but development is not visible here. The road, which I took, was full of potholes. Once the SP government is formed, the roads of Amethi will shine.”

Aparna Yadav said that Samajwad was synonymous with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and added that he was also the reason for the withdrawal of farm laws.

She said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the party reached out to the people and provided them ration, cylinders and other items of need.

In the 2017 UP Assembly elections, she lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi from Lucknow Cantonment.
