    Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel and Hunter Schafer are part of an upcoming film titled Mother Mary. As WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are ongoing, the film waived off from ceasing the shooting, even as union members are stopping work elsewhere. Exemptions are granted to film and TV productions that are considered independent rather than being affiliated with a studio that belongs to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

    Written and directed by David Lowery, Mother Mary is backed by A24 along with Topic Studios. The film will be a pop melodrama following a fictional musician (Anne Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer(Michaela Coel). According to reports, Schafer will play the character Hilda, the assistant of Coel’s designer Sam. 

    Mother Mary marks David Lowery’s third collaboration with A24 following The Green Knight(2021) and A Ghost Story(2017). 

    Meanwhile, exemptions have been credited to a few films, including CW series The Chosen, A24 ‘s recently announced Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega film Death of a Unicorn and Rebel Wilson-starrer Bride Hard.

    Actor Anne Hathaway is set to star in an upcoming film that will be helmed by David Robert Mitchell. The film will be made for Warner Bros Pictures, Bad Robotit and Jackson Pictures.

    As per Deadline, the film is expected to be a “thrill ride” that will be shot in IMAX and will go on floors from this fall. However, the rest of the information on the cast and crew along with the plot synopsis, is yet to be revealed.

    David has written the script of the film. It will be  produced by JJ Abrams and Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot and Matt Jackson under Jackson Pictures.

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Anne Hathaway says much like her fans she is also “frustrated” waiting for the third installment in the beloved “The Princess Diaries” franchise.

    Disney had confirmed in November that another chapter of “The Princess Diaries” saga was in the works with Aadrita Mukerji attached to write.

    Debra Martin Chase was also reported to be returning to produce the new film.

    The film has been in development for years and Hathaway believes delivering a convincing third part is a process that requires “patience”.

    “We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating. It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things,” she told People magazine.

    Hathaway has not yet signed for the new film officially, but has expressed interest in being part of the upcoming installment.

    “The Princess Diaries” was released in 2001 with Garry Marshall directing Julie Andrews and Hathaway.

    The comedy was based on the popular Meg Cabot novel series with Mia Thermopolis (Hathaway) at the centre of the story.

And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run,” the actor said in a Deadline report.

    While much about the plot of The Princess Diaries 3 is not yet known, it is expected to be a continuation of The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement. The Princess Diaries was directed by the late Garry Marshall and is based on Meg Cabot’s book by the same name. It is about an awkward American teenager Mia Thermapolis who suddenly discovers her royal heritage and is declared the heir of the fictional country Genovia. The first and second parts were released in 2001 and 2004 respectively.

    It was confirmed last month that Disney is working on “The Princess Diaries 3”, but according to Andrews, she is not involved with the project.

    “I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible,” Andrews told the entertainment website Access Hollywood.

    Seesaw Monster, the Japanese novel authored by Kotaro Isaka, is being adapted into a film. And streaming giant Netflix has bagged the rights. Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek Pinault will star in and produce the upcoming feature. Olivia Milch is penning the screenplay, and the film’s director is yet to be announced. 

    While Salma Hayek Pinault is backing the project under the Ventanarosa Productions banner, Anne Hathaway is associating with Somewhere Pictures and Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada ( Bullet Train ) with CTB Inc. The film’s executive producers include Jose Tamez, and Siobhan Flynn for Ventanarosa Productions; Adam Shulman, and Jonathan Rice for Somewhere Pictures; and Milch.

    Though details are kept under wraps, it is known that Hathaway and Hayek Pinault will play rivals forced to work together in an action comedy two-hander. Seesaw Monster’s author Isaka is known for authoring the second novel in her Hitman trilogy, which was made into a blockbuster film Bullet Train, starring Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock. Following the success of Bullet Train, the streaming giant is pinning hope on Isaka’s other novel for adaptation.

  • ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ fame O-T Fagbenle joins Anne Hathaway in Apple series ‘WeCrashed

    LOS ANGELES: Actor O-T Fagbenle will feature along with Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto in Apple’s upcoming scripted series “WeCrashed”.

    Fagbenle, best known for starring in Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale”, joins the show’s cast that also includes America Ferrera and Kyle Marvin, reported Deadline.

    The limited series is based on the Wondery podcast of the same name.

    It follows the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.

    Leto will play WeWork founder Adam Neumann, with Hathaway set to essay the role of his wife and co-founder Rebekah Newmann.

    Both stars will also serve as executive producers on the show.

    Fagbenle will portray Cameron Lautner, a partner at a powerful investment firm who is tasked with trying to instil discipline at WeWork and prepare it for its upcoming IPO, which brings him into conflict with the company’s eccentric and headstrong CEO.

    Ferrera will play the role of Elishia Kennedy, a brilliant young entrepreneur seduced into joining WeWork whose life is turned upside down as a result.

    Marvin will be starring as Miguel McKelvey, the co-founder of WeWork.

    Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello are on board as creators, while “This Is Us” duo John Requa and Glenn Ficarra will direct and executive produce.

    Apart from “WeCrashed”, another WeWork TV series is in the works with Nicholas Braun on board to play Adam Neumann in the drama created by Stephen Falk.

    That series is based on a book from Wall Street Journal reporters Eliot Brown and Maureen Farrell.

    Fagbenle most recently starred Marvel Studios’”Black Widow”, fronted by Scarlett Johansson.

    He will next be seen Showtime’s upcoming anthology series “The First Lady”, in which he play the role of former US president Barack Obama.

    LOS ANGELES: Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is set to play the lead role in the film adaptation of author Robinne Lee’s novel “The Idea of You”.

    The project is being jointly developed by Amazon Studios and Welle Entertainment, reported Deadline.

    Tony-nominated actor and filmmaker Jennifer Westfeldt is adapting the screenplay based on the 2017 bestselling book.

    The story is about Sophie, a 40-year-old divorced mother.

    Sophie’s husband Dan left her for a younger woman, and now he has cancelled his Coachella trip with their 15-year old daughter.

    Sophie picks up the pieces and braves the crowds and desert heat.

    There, she meets 24 year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of the hottest boy band on the planet, August Moon.

    The project will be backed by Cathy Schulman’s Welle Entertainment shingle along with Gabrielle Union and her production banner I’ll Have Another.

    Hathaway, who won an Oscar for best supporting actress for 2012 movie “Les Miserables”, most recently featured in HBO Max’s heist comedy “Locked Down” and Amazon’s anthology series “Solos”.

    The actor will next star in Apple TV Plus’ miniseries “We Crashed”, based on the podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork” by Wondery.
