  • Orlando Bloom to headline series ‘This Must Be the Place’

    Orlando Bloom is set to headline the series adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s This Must Be the Place, with the project being attached to Amazon Studios.

    The actor will be portraying the role of an American linguist Daniel Sullivan in what Collider calls the series a “globe-trotting exploration of romance, family, and identity”.

    The actor’s character is described as someone who is happily married to Anglo-French former star Claudette but owns a strained relationship with his children from another marriage and his father. However, Daniel’s matrimony is tested when a woman from the past brings a secret with her.

    The series will be written by Suzanne Heathcote who will also executive produce the show. Orlando will also serve as the executive producer along with Adam Karasick, Angie Stephenson, Juliette Howell and Tessa Ross.

    Actor Daisy Ridley who is best known for her role as Rey in the Star Wars franchise set to star in the series adaptation of Tanen Jones’s book The Better Liar for Amazon studios. 

    The series will also have the same title. Tornante Company has also partnered with Amazon studios to develop the series. 

    The Better Liar tells the story of a woman who hires a look-alike to conceal her sister’s death and claim their shared inheritance.

    Daisy Ridley also serves as an executive producer of the series along with  Raelle Tucker, who is also penning the script. Siobhan Bachman also executive produces for The Tornante Company.Daisy also stars in Magpie,   and The Marsh King’s Daughter.

  • Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston to star in a body swap comedy

    Amazon Studios has acquired rights for the upcoming body swap comedy feature starring Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. The banner won the rights in the auction against four other studios and streamers.

    Written and directed by Max Barbakow (Palm Springs), the comedy is backed by LuckyChap Entertainment, the production label of Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara.

    The director is also producing the feature with Roberts’ Red Om Films banner and Aniston’s Echo Films.

    The announcement follows Roberts’ recent hit, Ticket to Paradise. She was also recently seen in the thriller mini-series Gaslit. She is popularly known for her roles in ’90s films like Pretty Woman, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Runaway Bride and Notting Hill.

    On the other hand, Aniston, who rose to fame with the Friends series, is also known for her performance in films like Office Christmas Party, Along Came Polly, Bruce Almighty, The Bounty Hunter, Horrible Bosses, and We’re the Millers.

  • Nicole Kidman to lead thriller film ‘Holland, Michigan’ for Amazon Studios

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Nicole Ridman is once again teaming up with Amazon Studios for a feature film.

    Ridman, who most recently headlined the studio’s critically-acclaimed movie “Being The Ricardos”, will star in thriller film “Holland, Michigan”.

    The feature is based on Andrew Sodroski’s script that topped the 2013 Black List and will be directed by Mimi Cave, best known for her 2022 comedy thriller film “Fresh”.

    The movie involves secrets that lurk beneath a Midwestern town with a Hitchcock bent, reported Deadline.

    In addition to headlining the project, Kidman will also produce with Per Saari under her Blossom Films.

    Peter Dealbert for Pacific View Management & Productions is also producing.

    Kidman starred in Amazon’s “Being the Ricardos” as Lucille Ball, a role which earned her a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

    The actor is also starring in and producing the Amazon drama series “Expats”. Her recent projects include Robert Eggers Viking epic “The Northman” and Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers”.

    She will next be seen in Warner Bros/DC’s “Aquaman” sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and an untitled romantic comedy from streaming service Netflix.

  • Amazon Studios in talks to acquire British filmmaker Emerald Fennell’s ‘Saltburn’

    LOS ANGELES: Amazon Studios is in negotiations to buy the rights for British actor-filmmaker Emerald Fennell’s next feature film “Saltburn”. According to Deadline, the studio is in active discussions with production banner MRC for the project, which will begin shooting in the UK later this year.

    Fennell, who won an Academy Award for best original screenplay for her directorial debut “Promising Young Woman”, will write and direct the new film, led by Rosamund Pike. Though details about the project are scarce, the film will explore a “story of obsession”.

    “Eternals” actor Barry Keoghan and “Euphoria” star Jacob Elordi will also feature in the movie, which will be produced by Fennell and LuckyChap Entertainment’s Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley and Margot Robbie.

    As an actor, Fennell recently joined the cast of Warner Bros’ “Barbie”, which has been shooting in the UK. She earlier starred in films like “The Danish Girl” and “Anna Karenina” as well as the Netflix show “The Crown”.

  • Amazon Studios greenlights third season of ‘Upload’

    MUMBAI:  Amazon Studios on Thursday announced that it has renewed the fan favourite sci-fi comedy series “Upload”, from Emmy Award-winning writer Greg Daniels, for a third season.

    Daniels is best known for his work on hit shows such as “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation”. The second season of “Upload” premiered March 11, this year.

    “Upload” is a sci-fi comedy series set in a technologically advanced future where hologram phones, 3D food printers, and automated grocery stores are the norm.

    Most uniquely, humans can choose to be “uploaded” into a virtual afterlife. “‘Upload’ has become a bonafide hit that continues to be one of the most-watched comedy originals on Prime Video,” said Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios.

    The series continues to connect and provoke endless possibilities for the future of technology and humanity. With Greg’s distinct comedic take along with the dynamic creative team and talented actors, they’ve made a globally relevant series which we’re all incredibly proud to bring back another season for our customers.

    Creator and Executive Producer Greg Daniels said, “I’m thrilled to continue the story of Nathan and Nora and the other residents of Lakeview and near-future America as they try to have fun and do the right thing in both the real and virtual worlds.

     In season two, Nathan is at a crossroads in his (after) life: His ex-girlfriend Ingrid has unexpectedly arrived to Lakeview hoping to strengthen their relationship, but his heart still secretly yearns for his customer service angel, Nora.

    Meanwhile, Nora is off the grid and involved with the anti-tech rebel group,The Ludds.

     Daniels also serves as executive producer along with Howard Klein on the show that features Robbie Amell as Nathan, Andy Allo as Nora, Kevin Bigley as Luke, Allegra Edwards as Ingrid, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha, Owen Daniels as A.I Guy, Josh Banday as Ivan, and Andrea Rosen as Lucy.

  • Camila Mendes joins romantic comedy Musica

    Camila Mendes of Riverdale fame has joined the cast of Musica. The actor will be seen pairing up opposite Rudy Mancuso, who is also directing the film. The film is currently in development at Amazon Studios and Wonderland Sound and Vision, the banner behind films like Love Hard, Holidate and Tall Girl.

    Billed as a romantic comedy, the film will reportedly follow a young man, played by Mancuso, who is obsessed with music and wrestles with the uncertainty of life and Brazilian culture in New Jersey.

    Deadline reports that the film will enter production shortly. In addition to directing, Mancuso also co-wrote the script along with Dan Lagana, and will also compose the film’s original score and soundtrack.Camila Mendes, meanwhile, has Strangers and Ameican Sole, coming up.

  • Anthony Mackie, Priyanka Chopra team up for Ending Things

    It has been announced that actors and Priyanka Chopra will be teaming up for a film titled Ending Things.

    The film, which is currently in development at Amazon Studios, tells the story of a hit-woman who decides to quit the assassination business and end her relationship with her business partner. She quickly realises that she is not wholeheartedly willing to end the relationship, and the couple must team up for one last job.

    According to Deadline, Davis Entertainment’s Jeremy Stein and Lit Entertainment will produce the film along with Mackie’s production house, Make It With Gravy Productions and Jason Spire of Inspire Entertainment. Chopra Jonas will also be serving as the executive producer through her banner, Purple Pebble Pictures.

    Further details related to the project, such as the director and other cast members, are currently under wraps considering the nascency of the project.

    In addition to this film, Mackie has Desert Warrior coming up. He will also headline the fourth Captain America film. Chopra Jonas, on the other hand, will be seen in Text For You alongside Sam Heughan and the limited series, Citadel.

  • The Horror of Dolores Roach series approved by Amazon Studios

    Justina MachadoAmazon Studios has announced that it has greenlit The Horror of Dolores Roach series with Justina Machado of One Day at a Time as the lead.

    The series, a thriller and dark comedy series based on a popular podcast of the same name, is set to tell the story of an ex-convict who is pushed to extremes to renounce her newfound stability.

    The series is based on the Gimlet podcast series, the title character was played by Daphne Rubin-Vega (In the Heights), who was brought in to produce the series.
