In a candid address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, IT Secretary S Krishnan declared that the future of Artificial Intelligence lies not in flashy promotions but in creating solutions that genuinely simplify lives.

On the summit’s second day, during the session ‘From Algorithms to Outcomes: Building AI that Works for People,’ Krishnan elaborated on the India AI Mission’s strategic design to tackle varied real-world issues.

‘Our provision of computing resources, AI models, and datasets is purposeful—to build apps with verifiable impact,’ he told the panel. ‘Explore the expo, and you’ll see startups transforming healthcare, farming, education, and industry sectors.’

Addressing perennial shortages in public services, Krishnan noted, ‘No government will ever have sufficient educators, physicians, or judges. AI’s role in amplifying productivity could revolutionize service standards.’

He stressed the hurdles: choosing viable interventions, responsible deployment, privacy protection, and achieving quantifiable results with taxpayer money.

This pivotal discussion explored balancing citizen-focused AI development with building independent tech prowess. The emphasis was on AI’s potential to elevate public services and promote societal well-being through measurable progress.

Participants debated optimal uses of AI infrastructure to boost efficiency, fortify administration, and provide direct advantages to the populace, painting an optimistic yet pragmatic picture of AI’s trajectory in India.

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, a consensus emerged: AI isn’t just a tool—it’s India’s pathway to becoming a global innovation hub and job generator. Industry experts urged the nation to develop world-class AI solutions, moving beyond consumption to creation.

Corover AI and BharatGPT founder Ankush Sabharwal told reporters that AI is making development accessible. ‘We’re all becoming AI users, but India can lead as creators,’ he explained. ‘Solutions that once required elite engineers are now within reach for ordinary people, sparking widespread employment growth.’

Agriculture stands to benefit immensely. FAO’s Sanjay Sethi explained how AI will revolutionize forecasting for weather, crop needs, and food distribution. ‘In two to three years, we’ll see profound changes in farming efficiency,’ he said, as attendees grappled with AI’s far-reaching effects.

The event brimmed with youthful energy. Young innovator Akhila Pasupulati introduced ‘Desh Ke Haath,’ an AI e-commerce site linking handicraft artisans across India’s 28 states and 8 UTs directly to consumers, bypassing exploitative intermediaries.

Srishti Purohit’s Envision web app targets chronic fatigue syndrome sufferers, offering tools to manage unrelenting tiredness, sleep disorders, and agony—issues dismissed socially in India.

Subhangi Singh unveiled IGSS, combating grain spoilage from outdated storage. Her system provides live surveillance, risk prediction, automated safeguards, and instant notifications, poised to prevent annual losses of lakhs of tons.

This summit signals a pivotal moment for India, where AI-driven creativity could fuel economic prosperity and inclusive growth.

By 2035, artificial intelligence could add a staggering $550 billion to India’s GDP, targeting agriculture, education, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing—these priority sectors poised for exponential gains. A recent report delves into this potential, drawing from PwC India’s influential study unveiled at Davos.

India’s AI ambitions, as articulated at the World Economic Forum, transcend operational tweaks. They’re crafted with inclusivity, robust governance, and institutional preparedness at the core, setting a global standard for emerging markets.

Central to the strategy is the innovative 3A2I playbook: starting with Access to vital resources like data pools, digital networks, and expert talent; moving to Acceptance that fosters societal buy-in; then Assimilation, embedding AI into core operations seamlessly.

The pathway then scales to Implementation on a massive level and solidifies through Institutionalization. Outcomes include heightened efficiency, sustainable practices, ethical governance, adaptive resilience, and tighter financial controls.

Practical impacts are already visible. Maharashtra’s AI-driven Maitri platform, highlighted by CM Devendra Fadnavis, is easing business operations via smart automation. Energy sector’s AI smart meters are pinpointing theft precisely, improving revenue streams. In healthcare, AI diagnostics for TB have sharpened monitoring and response mechanisms dramatically.

This framework doesn’t just promise economic uplift; it charts a course for India to lead in AI deployment, blending technology with public good for a prosperous 2035.
