UP CM Yogi Adityanath hits out at SP, says Akhilesh government was worshipper of Kans
By PTI
ALIGARH: In a veiled attack, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav of not doing anything for Mathura and other religious places associated with Lord Krishna, and termed the previous SP government as “the worshipper of Kans”.
He accused the previous government of creating a Kans that resulted in the Jawahar Bagh incident in which 29 people were killed in June 2016 when police forcibly tried to evict squatters who were backed by Ram Vriksh Yadav.
Adityanath’s comment came a day after Akhilesh Yadav claimed that Lord Krishna comes to his dreams every night to tell him that he would form the government in the upcoming assembly polls and establish “Ram Rajya” in UP.
Addressing a public gathering here after inaugurating 660 MW Harduaganj Thermal Power plant costing Rs 7,000 crore, he said, “While I am inaugurating the power project here, some people are dreaming in Lucknow. Lord Krishna would be coming in their dreams, and tell them to shed tears over their failures. The work that they have not been able to do, the BJP government is doing it.”
Adityanath said in the dreams, Lord Krishna must have told them that when they were in power, they “failed” to do anything for Mathura, Barsana, Vrindavan, Gokul and Baldev.
Akhilesh Yadav led the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 17 and in the last assembly polls, the BJP came to power in the state and Adityanath was made the chief minister.
“Nobody bothered about Lord Krishna during that time. They were worshippers of Kans and used to create Kans. And when Kans was created, the incident of Jawahar Bagh took place in which SP (city) Mukul Dwivdei attained martyrdom,” Adityanath alleged.
In the violence at Mathura’s Jawahar Bagh park, 29 people, including two police officials, were killed during a drive to evict squatters.
Members of the Azad Bharat Vidhik Vaicharik Kranti Satyagrahi cult, led by Ram Vriksh Yadav, had encroached on the 270-acre Jawahar Bagh, which was government land, for two years and clashed with police when they tried to evict them.
Ram Vriksh Yadav too was killed in the encounter.
The BJP government has given Covid vaccines and food grains at no cost to the poor, but had the SP, BSP or Congress been in power, they would have eaten the foodgrains meant for them and swallowed the money for free vaccination, Adityanath claimed.
After doing so, these parties would have left like former Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani, who fled his country after the Taliban took over, he alleged.
“During the Covid pandemic, they did not step out of their homes. Babua was not seen for 20 months. Now, the third wave of coronavirus is also coming,” the chief minister said in an apparent reference to Akhilesh Yadav.

Cops involved in ‘very serious offences’ to face dismissal, warns Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath
By PTI
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said illegal activities by police personnel are not acceptable and warned that those found involved in “very serious offences” will be dismissed.
The CM’s statement has come amid criticism of his government over law and order following the death of a Kanpur businessman at a hotel in his home district Gorakhpur.
Manish Gupta (36) died on Monday night after he was allegedly beaten up by some policemen, prompting the authorities to register a murder case against them.
At a meeting with senior officials, the CM said in the recent past, there have been complaints of some police personnel indulging in illegal activities, according to a statement.
There should be no place for such people in the Police Department and action will be taken against them as per rules, Adityanath said, asking officials to identify such people and provide a list with proof Police personnel found involved in “very serious offences” should be dismissed, he said, stressing that people with tainted image should not be given important postings.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties demanded a probe into the incident by the CBI or a sitting judge of the High Court.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav rushed to Kanpur to meet the family of the victim and said justice is not possible till a High Court-monitored inquiry by a sitting judge is not ordered.
BSP Supremo Mayawati in a tweet also demanded a CBI probe.
On Wednesday, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had attacked the state government, saying it is “soft” on criminal and “brutal” with common people.
Priyanka also talked to family members of the victim over the phone, expressing grief and assuring them of help in ensuring justice, party sources had said.
Manish Gupta died when some policemen raided a Gorakhpur hotel on Monday night.
Earlier, police had said he received a head injury after he fell on the ground as he was drunk.
Later, the authorities suspended six policemen and booked them on the charge of murder.

BJP to field all senior leaders in 2022 UP poll
By Express News Service
LUCKNOW: A few hours before Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath touched down in Ayodhya on Sunday, the BJP’s first-time MLA from Ayodhya Ved Prakash Gupta said he would be the “happiest man” if the CM opted to contest from the same seat in 2022 Assembly polls.Gupta’s statement came amid reports that the BJP is planing to field all its senior leaders in the 2022 Assembly polls. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the party will actually field Adityanath from the Ayodhya seat. Recently, the BJP finished second to Samajwadi Party in the district panchayat members’ polls in Ayodhya.
However, it managed to win the district panchayat chairperson’s polls in the same district. The present two-time BJP MP from Faizabad seat Lallu Singh had won the Ayodhya Assembly seat five times between 1991 and 2007, before SP’s Pawan alias Tej Narayan Pandey snatched the seat in 2012 polls.
However, five years later, in 2017 polls, Ved Prakash Gupta wrested the seat for the saffron party by defeating Pandey (the ex-minister) by more than 50,000 votes. According to informed sources within the BJP in Lucknow, the party plans to field all its top leaders in the Vidhan Sabha polls this time.
But, instead of Ayodhya, the CM could actually contest from one of the seats in his home district of Gorakhpur (as he has immense sway in that region of the state up to the Nepal border).
Among the other top state BJP leaders, Keshav Prasad Maurya could be fielded from Sirathu Kaushambi district and Dinesh Sharma from any seat of Lucknow. Senior cabinet minister Dr Mahendra Singh could also be fielded from his home district Pratapgarh, possibly from Kunda seat, which has been a virtual fiefdom of ex-UP minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh who has won the seat six times.
