  • India reports 31,382 new Covid-19 infections, active cases lowest in 188 days

    NEW DELHI: India logged 31,382 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,35,94,803, while the active cases declined to 3,00,162, the lowest in 188 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

    The death toll climbed to 4,46,368 with 318 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

    The active cases comprise 0.89 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.78 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

    A reduction of 1,478 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

    India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

    It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

    India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.

  • Active COVID-19 cases in country dip for second day

    NEW DELHI: India’s total COVID-19 active cases dipped to 37,04,099 with a net decline of 11,122 cases in a span of 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

    This is the second consecutive day that active cases have dipped, the ministry said.

    The active caseload now comprises 15.87 per cent of the country’s total infections, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Haryana, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh cumulatively account for 82.51 per cent of India’s total active cases, the ministry said.

    India’s cumulative recoveries have surged to 1,93,82,642 with 3,55,338 people recuperating in a span of 24 hours.

    New recoveries have outshone new daily cases for the second consecutive day, the ministry said.

    It also said that Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana reported 71.22 per cent of the 3,48,421 new cases reported in a day.

    Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 40,956.

    It is followed by Karnataka with 39,510 while Kerala reported 37,290 new case .

    The National Mortality Rate currently stands at 1.09 per cent, the ministry said. A total of 4,205 deaths were reported in a span of 24 hours.

    Ten states account for 73.17 per cent of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (793). Karnataka follows with 480 daily deaths.

    The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 17.52 crore, the ministry said.

    A total of 17,52,35,991 vaccine doses have been administered through 25,47,534 sessions, according to the provisional report till 7 am.

    These include 95,82,449 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 65,39,376 HCWs who have taken the second dose.

    Besides, 5,58,83,416 and 78,36,168 beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years have been administered the first and second dose respectively, while 5,39,59,772 and 1,62,88,176 beneficiaries more than 60 years have taken the first and second dose.

    A total of 4,79,282 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years have received their first dose of COVID vaccine in the last 24 hours and cumulatively 30,44,463 across 30 states and UTs since the start of phase-3 of vaccination drive.

    More than 24.4 lakh vaccination doses were administered in a span of 24 hours.

    As on Day-116 of the vaccination drive (May 11), 24,46,674 vaccine doses were given.

    Across 18,543 sessions, 10,92,452 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 13,54,222 beneficiaries received their second dose of vaccine.

    The Centre is delivering global aid to states and UTs under the “Whole of Government” approach to augment their efforts in COVID management.

    It also said that 9,200 oxygen concentrators, 5,243 oxygen cylinders, 19 oxygen generation plants, 5,913 ventilators/ Bi PAP and 3.

    44 lakh Remdesivir vials received as part of global aid to India have been delivered or dispatched to states and UTs to strengthen and supplement their COVID response.

  • COVID-19 active caseload in India dips to 2.14 lakh

    NEW DELHI: India’s active caseload has fallen to 2.14 lakh, which is the lowest after 197 days, and its share in the total cases has further shrunk to 2.04 per cent, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

    The total active cases were 2,15,125 on June 30, 2020. A net decline of 2051 cases has been recorded in the total active cases in a span of 24 hours.

    “The share of active cases in the total cases has further shrunk to 2.04 per cent. This is lowest after 197 days,” the ministry said.

    The daily cases in India are registering a consistent decline on a daily basis, the ministry underlined.

    Less than 16,000 daily new cases (15,968) were added to the national tally in a span of 24 hours while 17,817 recoveries were registered during the same period.

    “Recoveries outnumbering new cases have ensured a steady fall in the active cases,” the ministry said.

    The total recovered cases stand at 10,129,111 which translates to a national recovery rate of 95.51 per cent.

    “The gap between recoveries and active cases continues to grow and presently stands at 99,14,604,” the ministry highlighted. Of the new recovered cases, 81.83 per cent are observed to be concentrated in 10 states and UTs.

    Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 4,270 recoveries.

    Maharashtra follows with 3,282 new recoveries. Chhattisgarh recorded another 1,207 daily recoveries.

    The ministry said that 74.82 per cent of the new cases are concentrated in 7 states and UTs.

    Kerala reported the maximum daily new cases numbering 5,507 in the last 24 hours.

    Maharashtra recorded 2,936 new cases while Karnataka reported 751 new cases yesterday.

    Seven states and UTs account for 70.30 per cent of the 202 case fatalities reported in a span of 24 hours.

    Maharashtra reported 50 deaths. Kerala and West Bengal follow with 25 and 18 new deaths, respectively.

  • New cases of corona in the country are declining, number of active cases reduced

    There is already a decline in cases of corona infection in the country. Less than 30 thousand corona cases were registered for the 7th consecutive day. In the last 24 hours, 26,624 newly infected patients have been exposed. At the same time, 341 people lost the battle of life from Corona. However, it is a matter of relief that 29,690 patients have also recovered from Corona during the last 24 hours.

    According to the latest data of the Ministry of Health, the total corona cases in India have increased to 1 crore 31 thousand. Of these, 1,45,477 people have lost their lives so far. Total active cases reduced to 3 lakh 5 thousand. So far, a total of 95 lakh 80 thousand people have been cured by beating Corona.

    According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, till December 18, a total of 16 crore 11 lakh sample tests were done for corona virus, out of which 11 lakh samples were tested yesterday. The positivity rate in the country is 7 percent.

    It is a matter of relief that a steady decline in mortality and active case rate is being recorded. For the last 23 days, there are more recoveries from new cases of corona virus. The death rate of corona in the country is 1.45 percent while the recovery rate is more than 95 percent. The active case is about 3 percent.

  • 26382 new cases of corona in 24 hours, 387 deaths

    So far, 99 lakh 32 thousand 548 people have been infected with the Coronavirus cases in India. Corona report of 26 thousand 382 people came positive in last 24 hours. On Tuesday, 33 thousand 813 people got cured. In 24 hours, 387 patients have died. So far 94 lakh 56 thousand 449 have been cured from Corona. So far, one lakh 44 thousand 96 people have lost their lives due to infection with this virus. There has been a decrease of 96 thousand 444 in the active cases (patients undergoing treatment) of Corona till 14 December this month. Their number is now only 3 lakh 32 thousand 2.

    11 states have the highest number of deaths due to corona infection in India. These 11 states account for 85% of the total deaths in India. These states are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. Things are constantly getting better in Delhi. The positivity rate in Delhi was recorded at 1.9% on Tuesday. This is the lowest so far. A total of 85 thousand 105 samples were investigated in the state, out of which only 1617 new cases were reported.

  • Corona case crosses 97 lakh in the country, 29 thousand 398 new patients found in 24 hours, 414 deaths

    There are signs of coronavirus waning in India. In the last 4 days, the number of new cases of Corona has been below 30 thousand for two days. However, the number of deaths still remains a cause for concern. With this, the total number of active corona cases in India is much below 4 lakhs. According to the Health Ministry, 29,398 new cases of corona have been reported in the last 24 hours, but 414 deaths have also occurred.

    The highest number of corona cases in India are currently reported from Maharashtra (18,68,172). There are also the highest number of active cases (71,910). Kerala (59,538) is second in terms of active cases. At the same time, Delhi (23,451) comes third, Uttar Pradesh (20,801) fourth and then Karnataka (19,206). Corona has 18,753 cases active in Delhi at present.
