Technically, an AC can run continuously for 24 hours. However, this isn’t recommended, as it increases your electricity bill and affects the AC’s performance. Prolonged use can even damage the AC. The ideal temperature for an AC should be between 23-24 degrees Celsius. This will not only save on your electricity bill but also reduce the strain on the AC. If you are using it during the monsoon season, it should be used in dry mode.

Following changes in GST rates, purchasing air conditioners and large-screen TVs is set to become more affordable. The central government has decided to reduce the GST from 28% to 18%,…

Following changes in GST rates, purchasing air conditioners and large-screen TVs is set to become more affordable. The central government has decided to reduce the GST from 28% to 18%, which will bring significant price relief to consumers. These new regulations will be effective from September 22nd. Let’s explore how much money you could save when buying TVs and ACs.

Under the new policy, televisions, air conditioners, dishwashers, and monitors will now attract only 18% GST instead of 28%. This change will be a major relief for consumers, particularly during the festive season when demand is highest. This will make these products more affordable.

As a result of the GST rate cut, a mid-range air conditioner can become cheaper by approximately ₹1,500 to ₹2,500. A more significant price drop may be seen on air conditioners with higher tonnage capacity, offering customers better quality products at lower prices.

For instance, if an air conditioner costs ₹35,000, the price could be reduced by around ₹3,150 after the GST cut. Previously, with a 28% GST, the tax was approximately ₹6,800, which will now be about ₹3,150 with an 18% GST. This means that an air conditioner priced at ₹35,000 could now be available for around ₹31,850. This represents savings of more than ₹3,000.

Large LED and LCD televisions (32 inches and larger) will also have an 18% GST instead of 28%, leading to a price reduction of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000. This is a great opportunity for customers looking to buy smart TVs with large displays.

For example, if a TV costs ₹20,000, you will save about ₹2,000 after the GST cut. Previously, with a 28% GST, the tax was approximately ₹5,600, which will now be reduced to approximately ₹3,600 with an 18% GST. This will bring the total price of the TV from ₹23,600 to approximately ₹21,600. This will benefit customers significantly.

The GST cut is expected to reduce prices in the electronics market, boosting sales during the festive season and providing consumers with excellent offers. If you’re considering buying a new AC or TV, the time after September 22nd could be most beneficial for you.

The government recently announced a reduction in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on air conditioners. This decision will result in a tax reduction of approximately 10% on the…

The government recently announced a reduction in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates on air conditioners. This decision will result in a tax reduction of approximately 10% on the purchase of ACs. The government has declared a reduction in the 28% GST on electronics products like ACs to 18%. The new rules are set to be implemented from September 22nd. If you are also preparing to buy an AC, this news is for you. Here, we will find out how much tax you will save on an AC priced at ₹35,000.

**How Much Will You Save on AC Purchase?**

Buyers of ACs can benefit from thousands of rupees after the GST reduction by the government. In India, a 1 or 1.5-ton AC usually starts at a price of ₹35,000. But now, its price is going to decrease after the GST cut. Let’s understand the math.

**What is the GST rate before and now?**

It is important to understand the tax before. Previously, up to 28% GST was levied on ACs, which made its price out of reach for the average customer. Now, the government has reduced this tax slab to 18%. This will have a direct impact on customers because the price will also decrease due to the reduction in tax, and competition in the market will increase.

**How much tax will be reduced on a ₹35,000 AC?**

For example, if an air conditioner costs ₹35,000, then after the GST cut, you can save up to ₹3,150. Earlier, with 28% GST, the tax was around ₹6,800, which will now be around ₹3,150 with 18% GST. That means you can save directly up to 10%.

This means that an air conditioner costing ₹35,000 can now be available to you for around ₹31,850. That is, you will be able to save more than ₹3,150. Also, if you buy an AC during the festival season, you can also get card discounts and other offers.

AC Expiry Date: As Summers are going on the demand for air conditioners (ACs) naturally increased. While ACs don’t come with a clear expiry date, their performance and efficiency decline…

AC Expiry Date: As Summers are going on the demand for air conditioners (ACs) naturally increased. While ACs don’t come with a clear expiry date, their performance and efficiency decline over time. Using an outdated unit can lead to higher electricity bills and frequent breakdowns. In this article, we guide on the possible key indicators that signal it’s time for an upgrade in AC for better performance, efficiency, and cost savings.

Does Your AC Have An Expiry Date?

There is no official expiry date mentioned on most AC units, but that doesn’t mean they are built to last forever. Like any other electronic appliance, air conditioners also age—and with time, their performance tends to decline. Continued use of an outdated AC can lead to inefficiency, high electricity, frequent malfunctions, and even safety concerns.

How Long Does An AC Typically Last?

Industry experts say that the average lifespan of an air conditioner ranges between 10 to 15 years. However, the actual longevity depends on various factors such as the type of AC, maintenance routine, and usage patterns. Split ACs, when regularly serviced and properly maintained, can function efficiently for up to 15 years. Window ACs generally have a shorter life, with most units needing replacement after 8 to 10 years. Many manufacturers offer a warranty of up to 10 years on compressors, indicating the expected durability of core components.

When Should You Replace Your AC? – Key Indicators

Frequent Repairs: If your old AC keeps breaking down and you constantly need to call a technician, it’s a clear sign that you should invest in a new one. Spending repeatedly on repairs isn’t cost-effective.

Reduced Cooling: If your AC no longer cools the room as effectively as before, it may mean the compressor is weakening or there’s a major issue. In such cases, consider getting a new AC.

Higher Electricity Consumption: If your old AC is consuming more electricity and increasing your power bill, switching to a new one could be a smart move.

Unusual Noises: If your AC starts making strange rattling or buzzing noises, it could indicate a serious problem.

Water or Refrigerant Leaks: If your AC is leaking water or refrigerant, it should be repaired immediately. But if leaks happen repeatedly, replacing the unit may be the better option.

Outdated Technology: If your AC is more than 10 years old, replacing it could be beneficial. Newer models are more energy-efficient, come with the latest features, consume less power, and are easier to use.
