An Anilumar Bolla, a 29-year-old from South India, has become an instant multi-millionaire after winning the UAE Lottery’s unprecedented Dh100 million (approximately Rs 240 crore) jackpot. This marks the largest prize ever awarded in the country’s history. Bolla, who has resided in the UAE for 18 months, selected the winning numbers using an ‘Easy Pick’ method, with a particularly sentimental choice: the number 11, representing his mother’s birthday month. He purchased 12 tickets in a single transaction, never anticipating such a monumental win. The draw occurred on October 18th during the 23rd Lucky Day event, where Bolla overcame staggering odds of 1 in 8.8 million. Reflecting on the life-altering moment, Bolla described feeling an immediate sense of shock and disbelief. He is now focused on carefully planning his future, with intentions to invest wisely, support his parents by fulfilling their lifelong aspirations, and bring them to the UAE. His generous spirit also extends to plans for purchasing a supercar, indulging in a luxury resort celebration, and donating a significant portion of his winnings to those in genuine need. Bolla’s message to fellow participants is one of perseverance and optimism, emphasizing that luck can change fortunes and encouraging them to continue playing.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Chairman of Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, along with his son Ghanim bin Sulayem, visited the BAPS…

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, and Chairman of Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, along with his son Ghanim bin Sulayem, visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. They spent approximately two hours experiencing the temple’s magnificent architecture, spirituality, and cultural heritage.

During the visit, Swami Brahmavihar Dasji expressed gratitude to Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem. He highlighted Sulayem’s consistent support for the temple’s journey, from facilitating the transportation of stones during the challenges of COVID-19 to supporting sustainable and progressive initiatives. He mentioned that Sulayem’s presence has been a source of strength and inspiration before, during, and after the inauguration.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem stated, “I am honored that we came here. It is an honor to be a small part of this amazing creation. This is entirely different from the previous visit. The location was inspiring. His Highness knew this would be the best place.” Recalling the temple’s construction, he said, “When I first came, there were scaffolding, raw land, and piles of sand. You described 3D-printed walls, immersive screens, and amazing carvings. I could understand, but I couldn’t imagine. Seeing it in its completed form today is truly amazing.” He praised the temple’s design, noting that everything is in perfect harmony. “The harmony of the design brings a smile. Visitors not only find a welcome here, but also experience culture, education, and understanding. This journey is a bridge connecting cultures.” Sulayem emphasized the UAE’s tolerance, stating that harmony did not begin with Sheikh Zayed; his ancestors fostered it, and Sheikh Mohammed is carrying it forward. Because of this, various communities, especially Indians, feel at home here. Tolerance is our greatest asset.

Describing the temple as not just a structure, but a place of the soul, he said it provides an infinite experience. “The mind, heart, and soul are satisfied. People who come here experience the soul. The dedication of the people in service speaks volumes without words. Every visit provides a new experience, and I will look forward to visiting again and again.” The BAPS Hindu Mandir was inaugurated on February 14, 2024. It is the first traditional Hindu temple in the UAE, spread over 27 acres, constructed using sandstone from Rajasthan.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem is a visionary figure shaping global trade and logistics. He has led DP World to be a leader in over 60 countries and made Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) the largest hub in the Middle East. He represents the UAE on the world stage. His visit to the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi reflects his commitment to harmony, culture, and shared humanity.

Punjab Police and central agencies have achieved a significant breakthrough with the extradition of Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, a Khalistan-supporting terrorist associated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)…

Punjab Police and central agencies have achieved a significant breakthrough with the extradition of Parminder Singh, also known as Pindi, a Khalistan-supporting terrorist associated with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) organization, from Abu Dhabi. Pindi is linked to the gang of Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda, and Happy Passia, both Khalistan-supporting terrorists hiding in Pakistan. He was wanted in Punjab for several serious crimes, including petrol pump attacks and extortion.

A Punjab Police team arrived in the UAE on September 24 with the assistance of the Union Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities to facilitate the extradition of Rinda. Punjab’s DGP expressed gratitude to the Union Ministry of External Affairs, the UAE government, and central agencies of India for the successful extradition.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the operation via Twitter, stating that in a historic operation, Punjab Police, in close coordination and cooperation with central agencies, extradited terrorist Parminder Singh, alias Pindi, of Babbar Khalsa International, from Abu Dhabi. Pindi is a close associate of foreign terrorist Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda, and Happy Passia and is involved in multiple heinous crimes, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion in the Batala region.

He further stated that acting swiftly on the Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued by Batala Police, a four-member team led by a senior police officer went to the United Arab Emirates on September 24. They coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE officials. All legal formalities were completed, and the terrorist was successfully brought back to face justice. This successful extradition underscores the Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and organized crime, as well as its advanced investigative capabilities and global reach. He expressed gratitude for the invaluable cooperation of central agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the UAE government in this joint effort to uphold justice and strengthen national security.

India secured another win in their Asia Cup 2025 campaign, triumphing over Oman by 21 runs in their final Group A match held in Abu Dhabi. This victory solidifies India’s unbeaten run through the group stage, propelling them confidently into the Super 4 round. After winning the toss, India chose to bat first, amassing a competitive total of 188/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Key to this score was Sanju Samson’s composed half-century, a score of 56 runs off 45 balls, which demonstrated a balance of caution and aggression. While the top order started slowly, India found momentum in the middle overs through strategic hitting and smart rotation of strike. Oman put up a commendable fight, with Aamir Kaleem (64 runs off 46 balls) and Hammad Mirza (51 runs off 33 balls) both scoring half-centuries, forging a strong 93-run second-wicket partnership that kept Oman in contention for a significant portion of the game. However, in the crucial final overs, India’s bowlers demonstrated composure and skill, ultimately securing the win. The match also marked a historic moment for Arshdeep Singh, who became the first Indian bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets. His final wicket sealed both the game and his milestone achievement.

In the Asia Cup 2025, while Team India secured a spot in the Super 4 with two consecutive wins from Group A, Group B witnessed a thrilling turn of events. Afghanistan, which started the tournament with a resounding victory, suffered a defeat against Bangladesh in their subsequent match. Bangladesh, playing their final group stage match, kept their hopes of reaching the Super 4 alive with this win, while Afghanistan’s prospects now hinge on their last match.

The match, played in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, September 16, saw Afghanistan as the favored team. Especially after Bangladesh’s heavy defeat against Sri Lanka in the previous match, it seemed like Litton Das’s team would be eliminated in the group stage itself. However, this did not happen, and due to some players’ strong performances, Bangladesh won the match by 8 runs and also jumped up in the points table.

The Asia Cup 2025 continues in Abu Dhabi with a match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Tuesday, September 13, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. This Group B fixture pits a confident Bangladesh side against a Sri Lankan team looking to establish their form. Bangladesh secured a comfortable victory in their tournament opener, chasing down a modest target set by Hong Kong, with captain Litton Das scoring a composed 59. However, concerns remain in the bowling department, as Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain conceded runs despite taking wickets. Sri Lanka, the 2022 Asia Cup T20 champions, are coming off a recent series win over Zimbabwe, but they’ll need to elevate their game to compete in the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka’s strength lies in their spin attack, with Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Dunith Wellalage providing a balanced threat, while Matheesha Pathirana’s pace could be a factor. The match is scheduled for 8:00 PM IST, with the toss at 7:30 PM IST. It will be broadcast on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on the Sony Liv app and website, as well as the OTTplay app. With only two teams progressing from the group, the stakes are high. A win for Bangladesh would secure their spot in the next round, while Sri Lanka aims to regain their rhythm and assert themselves as a top T20 team.
