<p>Reliance Jio, led by Mukesh Ambani, has once again outpaced Airtel and Vodafone Idea in terms of new subscriber additions. According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added significantly more wireless subscribers in June compared to Bharti Airtel. Conversely, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) continued to experience a decline in their subscriber numbers. In June, Reliance Jio added 1.9 million net wireless subscribers, whereas Airtel added only 763,482 new subscribers. During the same period, Vi lost 217,816 subscribers, and BSNL lost 305,766 subscribers. The overall wireless subscriber base in the country grew by 2 million in June, reaching a total of 1163 million. However, the rural wireless user base decreased by 0.51 million, while the urban user base increased by 2.97 million. Jio&#8217;s wireless user base exceeded 477 million, Airtel&#8217;s surpassed 391 million, and Vi&#8217;s reached over 204.2 million in June. BSNL&#8217;s wireless user base stood at 90.5 million.</p>

<p>India&#8217;s telecom sector saw significant shifts in the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest report. Wireless subscriber numbers experienced a surge, while broadband growth showed signs of stagnation. The total number of telecom subscribers surpassed 1.2 billion. Wireless usage experienced a sharp increase, and the market presented a mixed picture of gains and losses. The addition of 13.10 million wireless users, including 6.77 million from 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), pushed the total to 1,163.76 million. Meanwhile, wireline subscribers decreased by 5.67 percent. Tele-density rose to 85.04 percent. Internet user base saw a slight decline, while broadband subscriptions slightly decreased. Monthly ARPU for wireless service increased to ₹182.95. The telecom sector&#8217;s gross revenue reached ₹98,250 crore, with a 1.93 percent growth, and Adjusted Gross Revenue hit ₹79,226 crore, showing a 1.66 percent increase. Key Quality of Service (QoS) benchmarks were met by both wireline and wireless providers.</p>
