Indore. In today’s time, it is very important for women to defend themselves. There are many women in the city who are working for this. Girls are also being informed about good touch-bad touch so that they understand what is right and what is wrong. A courageous female police officer of Indore has taken a unique and important initiative to bring about a change in the society.
Took the initiative to teach self-defense techniques
This policewoman has not only taken the initiative to teach self-defense techniques to the girls, but is also distributing sanitary pads to them to maintain hygiene during menstruation. Her initiative has not only boosted the confidence of the girls but has also made them aware of health and hygiene.
Working with a social service organisation
We are talking about Anila Parashar, currently posted as TI in CID. She has been doing this work for many years by joining Anvika Samaj Seva Sanstha. Anila said that I felt that in today’s time, self-defense training is very necessary for girls.
Initiatives taken in view of rising crime
According to Anila, this initiative has been started in view of the increasing crimes against women and girls in the society. Through this training, we are teaching how girls can keep themselves safe in dangerous situations and can confront the attacker.
growing confidence
Changes are also being seen in the participating girls after the training sessions, a confidence is being seen in them. They no longer feel scared to go anywhere alone. They have now started realizing that they can protect themselves and can take bold decisions in any emergency. They have now started understanding the world around them better and are ready to face any challenge.
Distributing blankets to the poor in winter
Anila has been distributing blankets to the poor and needy under the Thand ke Sipahi for the past four years. So far, blankets have been distributed to thousands of people. Anila said that when we used to stay outside at night during duty, we used to see that many people used to shiver in the cold days. Some of us policemen bought blankets ourselves and kept them in our car.
Blankets were given to those sitting on the sidewalk
According to him, whenever we used to go at night, we used to give blankets to those who we saw on the footpath. After this, people also started joining us and we started getting support from social organizations as well. Apart from this, he has also done works like taking women to hospitals during Corona and getting them delivered, etc. He has also been honored many times for his work.
focus on important social issues
Along with self-defense training, Anila has also focused on another important social issue: menstrual hygiene. She realized that many girls and women in both rural and urban areas do not have access to the resources needed to maintain hygiene during menstruation.
Creating awareness about misconceptions related to menstruation
To address this problem, she also started distributing sanitary pads during the training sessions. The aim of pad distribution is not only to maintain hygiene during menstruation but also to encourage girls and women to talk openly about this issue. Along with this, she is making them aware about the misconceptions and myths related to menstruation.
Inspiring example for society
The female police officer is not only a law enforcement officer but also an inspiring example for the society. Her initiative has received appreciation from various sections of the society. The local administration has also appreciated her unique initiative and presented it as an example of how positive change can be brought in the society.
