A large number of tigers and leopards are present in the North and South forest divisions along with the Tiger Reserve in the district. In which tigers are present in abundance in the forests of the northern forest division and leopards in abundance in the forests of the southern forest division. But questions have been raised on the Forest Department regarding the safety of wild animals.

The latest case has come to light from Pipriyadon beat under Powai range of South Forest Division of the district. Where today a leopard got trapped in a trap set in the garden of a field. The forest workers came to know about this. Immediately the forest range officer reached the spot with the forest team. After which the rescue team was called from PTR. But by the time the rescue team and senior officials reached the spot, the leopard had died. However, the rescue team took out the leopard’s body from the trap and the last rites were performed. The Forest Department team is continuing the search for the poachers who hanged themselves.
