Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. A case of carelessness and speed of a drunken car driver has come to light late at night. A drunken car driver hit the scooter riders at Nehru Chowk, in which two people were seriously injured. After the accident, the youth in the car kept dragging the scooter for 1 kilometer, after stopping the car ahead, angry people caught hold of both the youths in the car and beat them up. On receiving information about the incident, the Civil Line Police reached the spot and took the youths into custody and is interrogating them.
According to the information, last night at around 2 o’clock, a youth resident of Ashok Nagar Sarkanda was going to his house in his Activa vehicle whose number was CG 07 BD 2050 near Nehru Chowk under Civil Lines police station area. Then two youths driving a white car number CG 10AX 9805 under the influence of alcohol hit the Activa very hard. Due to the collision, the youth fell on the other side of the road and his Activa got stuck in the front part of the car. After this incident, the car driver Mahesh Kumar Kashyap, a resident of Ghuru, and his companion Ajay Kumar Manikpuri were running their car with the Activa vehicle stuck in the car from Nehru Chowk via Indira Setu towards the old Sarkanda bridge.
On the other hand, people standing on the road chased them and stopped them after seeing the Activa stuck in the car, where they could only find the scooter stuck in the car. Angered by their act, the local people beat up both of them. On receiving information about the incident, Civil Line and Sarkanda police reached there, and after pacifying the angry people, took the accused car driver youths to the police station.
