Through various schemes of the government, the people living in the forest areas of the district are being linked with livelihood activities with the aim of strengthening their social and economic status. The tussar worm rearing scheme run by the Silk Division of Village Industries has emerged as an important means of livelihood in rural areas. At present the work of rearing three species of mulberry (mulberry), tussar (daba), natural rally cosa is being done in the district. Many groups are doing silkworm rearing work in silk centers, Kumar Singh, member of silk worm rearing group committee of village Urumduga of Baikunthpur block, says that after getting training from silk department, I am doing silkworm rearing work here. This year, the group has obtained 95 thousand 200 nos. of kosaphal by rearing one thousand egg groups in the first crop, the estimated amount of which is Rs. 2 lakh 9 thousand 440. He informed that the work of rearing one thousand ovum groups in the second crop is still in progress. ‘In the first crop more than 10 lakh cocoons were produced, people got employment-‘ Assistant Director of the Silk Department said that the production of daba cocoons is being done in forest blocks and government taser centers through tussar rearing scheme in food plants. . Against the target of 65 thousand healthy egg groups in the year 2022-23, a total of 47 thousand 322 healthy eggs have been followed in the first and second crop so far. He said that 10 lakh kosa has been produced from the first crop, while the production of second crop is in progress. In this financial year, 9 thousand 178 employment man-days have been created due to tussar food plant maintenance and worm rearing work, in which 147 beneficiaries have been benefitted.
