Raipur/Balodabazar. The drivers’ strike continues across the country regarding the new Vehicle Act. The entire system has broken down due to the drivers’ strike. Due to the rumor of non-availability of petrol, there are long queues of people in all the petrol pumps of the cities to get petrol and diesel. Due to lack of transportation, the prices of vegetables have increased.

The effect of the strike is beginning to be seen in the state’s largest wholesale vegetable market. The arrival of vegetables from different places has reduced or ended. Due to the strike, the prices of vegetables have tripled. Vehicles coming from other states are also not reaching the mandis. The price of green chilli in bulk has gone up to Rs 70 per kg. In bulk, the prices of coriander have increased by Rs 80 per kg, peas by Rs 50 per kg, cabbage, bitter gourd and semi-precious seeds have also increased.

    Huge crowd in petrol pumps

People are also carrying petrol in cans in the petrol pumps of the capital Raipur, Balodabazar and other cities, so that they do not have to face problems if the strike continues for a long time. There is discussion among the people that the strike may continue for a long time. In such a situation, there may be a shortage of petrol and diesel and from the point of view of convenience, there is a need for petrol and diesel, hence there is a rush. There is a huge crowd at Dumtarrai petrol pump in the capital Raipur. Many petrol pumps in Raipur have run out of petrol. The general public is getting troubled due to the drivers’ strike.

On the rumor of long queues and non-availability of petrol, petrol pump manager Shivkamal Mishra said that petrol is in sufficient quantity and there is no need for anyone to panic. Long queues have formed due to the drivers’ strike. We are providing petrol diesel to everyone as per their requirement.

The Food Department gave these instructions to all the collectors –

Petrol-diesel and domestic LPG are included in the category of essential commodities and their supply cannot be affected by anyone under any circumstances. Therefore, ensure all necessary arrangements for its continuous transportation and supply. Strikes should not create any kind of disruption in the entry and exit of vehicles in the petroleum/diesel depots and LPG depots operated in the state. For this, duty of Revenue Police and Food Department staff should be imposed. After the departure of vehicles from petrol/diesel depot and LPG depot, their transportation should not be disrupted in any district of the state. For this, necessary arrangements should be made in all toll points/posts. Easy availability of these essential commodities should be maintained by forming a district level monitoring team along with the officials of the oil companies posted in your district to continuously monitor the availability and supply system of petrol/diesel/domestic LPG in the district.
