State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority Chhattisgarh (Authority, Chhattisgarh) constituted

The State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Chhattisgarh (Authority, Chhattisgarh) has been constituted by the Government of India. For this, a notification has been issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India on 23 November 2021. Regarding their formation, a proposal was sent by the State Government to the Central Government, which has been accepted by the Government of India as per the notification of their formation. Under the issued notification, former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Chhattisgarh Forest Department Shri Devashish Das has been made the Chairman of the Authority, Chhattisgarh. Similarly, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Nagarjuna Postgraduate Science College, Raipur Dr. Deepak Sinha has been made a member. Apart from this, Member-Secretary, Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar will be its Member-Secretary. Similarly, for the purpose of assisting the Authority, Chhattisgarh, State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) Chhattisgarh has been constituted by the Government of India in consultation with the State Government of Chhattisgarh. Former Chief Conservator of Forests and former Additional Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Forest Development Corporation Dr. B.P. Nonhare has been made the chairman. Among its members Prof. Department of Metal Refining and Materials Engineering National Institute of Technology Dr. Manoj Kumar Chopkar, Retired Chief Engineer Mahanadi Project Raipur Mr. Kishan Singh Dhruv, School of Biotechnology Studies, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University Dr. Shailesh Kumar Jadhav, Nawazedwan Society Pachpedi Naka Raipur Mr. N.K. . Chandrika and Acharya Electronics Engineering College, Jagdalpur Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Khan. Deputy Secretary Housing and Environment Department Chhattisgarh will be the member-secretary of SEAC Chhattisgarh. The authority will take its decision on the recommendations of the Chhattisgarh State Level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC, Chhattisgarh). The Authority, Chhattisgarh and the Chairperson and Members of SEAC, Chhattisgarh shall not, during their tenure, advise or engage in the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environment Management Plan for any such project, the evaluation of which Authority, Chhattisgarh and SEAC, Chhattisgarh. If in the last 5 years the Chairperson or any member of the Authority, Chhattisgarh and SEAC, Chhattisgarh has rendered any consultancy service or conducted EIA studies for any project proponent, in such case, In the process of project appraisal, the Authority, Chhattisgarh and SEAC, Chhattisgarh shall refrain from personally attending the meetings.
