Special arrangements for transportation of foodgrains of FCI by Railways

On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, special arrangements have been made by the state government for custom milling of paddy purchased on support price in Chhattisgarh. As a result, about 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in the central bridge. Apart from this, arrangements have also been made by the State Government in coordination with Indian Railways for speedy transportation of rice deposited in the Central Bridge. Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain has directed all the collectors of the state to take advantage of the facilities being provided by the Indian Railways for transportation of food grains for the Public Distribution System till December 31. He said that special arrangements have been made for the transportation of food grains in the Goods Shed and Terminal of Indian Railways. This facility can be availed to the maximum, so that the rice deposited with the Food Corporation of India by custom milling can be transported faster. Shri Jain has told the collectors that the facilities being provided by Indian Railways will speed up custom milling, while the state government will be facilitated in depositing rice in the Central Bridge. He said that the transportation of food grains for the Public Distribution System by Indian Railways has been given high priority for the period up to 31st December. It is noteworthy that in line with the target of depositing about 61 lakh metric tonnes of rice in the central bridge, custom milling work is going on fast in Chhattisgarh. In order to expedite the process of custom milling, the incentive amount for custom milling to rice millers has been increased from Rs 40 to Rs 120 per quintal.
