Till April 16, 97.75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted for custom milling in the state. The state government is also working expeditiously in the matter of depositing rice in the central pool. So far 36.89 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in the central pool, which includes 19.57 lakh metric tonnes in Food Corporation of India and 17.31 lakh metric tonnes in Civil Supplies Corporation. Food Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma informed that on the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, along with the purchase of paddy this year, the work of lifting and custom milling was started expeditiously. So far, a record 97.75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted in the state through DOs and TOs. Mr. Verma informed that DO of 75 lakh 08 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been issued. The millers have lifted 74 lakh 85 thousand metric paddy from the procurement centers. Similarly, for transportation of 23 lakh 9 thousand metric tonnes of paddy, T.O. has been issued, against which 22 lakh 91 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the committees. This year, 61.65 lakh metric tonnes of Arva rice is to be deposited in the central pool. It is worth mentioning that in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22, about 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased on support price from 21 lakh 77 thousand farmers registered. About 20 thousand crore rupees have been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system in lieu of paddy purchase.
