Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is an Ideal Example in Democratic Traditions – Governor Shri Ramen Deka
Raipur, March 24, 2025/President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, while participating in the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly today, congratulated the people of the state on their 25-year democratic journey and highly praised the excellent parliamentary traditions of the Legislative Assembly. President Murmu described the establishment of the state of Chhattisgarh as a result of the extraordinary guidance of the late Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and respectfully bowed to him. She said that the democratic journey of Chhattisgarh is an inspiring example of the expression of public aspirations. Sharing memories of her time as a legislator, she said that working as a public representative is a privilege for those who are motivated by the spirit of public service. She described the Legislative Assembly as a carrier of culture and a center that provides direction to policy-making.
Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly: A Symbol of Exemplary Parliamentary Conduct
President Droupadi Murmu praised the disciplined and dignified traditions adopted by the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. She especially appreciated rules like ‘automatic suspension’ and called it historic that the marshal has never had to be used in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in 25 years.
President Murmu, describing Chhattisgarh as a direct symbol of mother power, bowed to the cultural dignity of the state. She remembered Mini Mata, a prominent woman figure of Chhattisgarh, and bowed to her contributions. She also appreciated the fact that today there are 19 women legislators in the Legislative Assembly and that the number of women voters in the state has been higher than that of men. The President called upon the women legislators to play a leading role in empowering other women in the state. She appealed to implement the spirit of the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ (Women Power Vandan Act) on the ground.
Chhattisgarh’s Policies Towards an Inclusive Society
President Murmu described the 565 bills passed by the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as historic in the direction of inclusive development. Specifically mentioning the act freeing women from tradition-based harassment, she described it as an important contribution of the Legislative Assembly during Dr. Raman Singh’s tenure.
A State Rich in Natural Resources, Full of Possibilities
President Droupadi Murmu said that there are immense possibilities of development in Chhattisgarh. She said that there is immense potential for development in the state in the mineral, industrial, and agricultural sectors. She emphasized the need for a balance between environmental protection and development. She said that the traditional folk crafts here are appreciated in the country and abroad. This beautiful state is rich in lush forests, waterfalls, and other natural gifts. Chhattisgarh is blessed with rivers like Mahanadi, Hasdeo, Indravati, and Shivnath. Along with moving forward on the path of modern development, Chhattisgarh must also ensure the protection of the environment. All of you policymakers of the state have the responsibility of establishing a balance between development and nature. Along with this, connecting all sections of society to the modern development journey is also the responsibility of all public representatives.
Decisive Progress Towards Freedom from Left-Wing Extremism
President Droupadi Murmu said that the work of connecting the people affected by Left-Wing Extremism in Chhattisgarh with the mainstream of society has reached its final and decisive stage. The people of the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh want to move forward on the path of development. She expressed confidence that success will be achieved soon in the effort to completely free Chhattisgarh from extremism, and a golden chapter will be added to the history of the state.

President Murmu described the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as an ideal democratic institution and wished for the bright future of the state, and called upon all public representatives to work with a sense of dedication to build a superior Chhattisgarh.
