Paddy offtake for custom milling accelerates: 95.82 lakh metric tonnes of paddy lifted so far

As per the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, fast lifting of paddy for custom milling is going on. Till March 23, 95.82 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted in the state. Work is also being done expeditiously in the matter of depositing rice in the Central Pool by Chhattisgarh. So far 31.41 lakh metric tonnes of rice has been deposited in the central pool. These include 16.82 lakh metric tonnes in Food Corporation of India and 14.59 lakh metric tonnes in Civil Supplies Corporation. Food Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma informed that this year on the initiative of the Chief Minister, along with the purchase of paddy, fast lifting of paddy for custom milling is being done. So far a record 95.82 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted through DO and TO. Mr. Verma informed that DO of 74 lakh 57 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been issued. 73 lakh metric paddy has been lifted by the millers from the procurement centers. Similarly, for the transportation of 23 lakh 9 thousand metric tonnes of paddy, T.O. has been issued. Against which 22 lakh 82 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the committees. Paddy off-take and custom milling from paddy procurement centers is also going on on a war footing. This year, 61.65 lakh metric tonnes of Arva rice is to be deposited in the central pool. It is worth mentioning that in the Kharif marketing year 2021-22, about 98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from 21 lakh 77 thousand farmers registered on support price. About 20 thousand crore rupees have been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system in lieu of paddy purchase. In comparison to last year, this year 1 lakh 24 thousand i.e. 6 percent more farmers of the state sold paddy on support price.
