On the instructions of Bhupesh Baghel, 11-year-old disabled student Kumari Geeta, living in village Chhidauli Kamarpara of Janpad Panchayat Chhura in Gariaband district, has been given artificial legs by the Social Welfare Department in a week. Girl Geeta today walked on her feet and reached her capital residence to meet the Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Mrs. Anila Bhendia and thanked the Chief Minister and the State Government for their immediate help.
Geeta studying in class 6th was very happy to walk on her feet. The PRRC Center (Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center) located in Mana of the Social Welfare Department had talked about giving Geeta a leg in 10 days, but within 7 days, she has also taught her to walk by preparing an artificial leg of Geeta. Now girl Geeta will be able to do her work easily like normal children.
It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel had on 7th June discussed Geeta virtually and presented a motorized tricycle to her for commuting to school and assured all possible help. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, a team of experts posted at the Physical Referral Rehabilitation Center, Mana Camp, Raipur, went to the house of Kumari Geeta and measured her claws and prepared artificial claws for her at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Mrs. Bhendia met the girl Geeta to know her well-being and wished her all the best for her bright future. On asking Mrs. Bhendia, Kumari Geeta told that she wants to become a teacher in future. Mrs. Bhendia encouraged him and said that go ahead with courage, physical deficiency will never become a hindrance in achieving the goal. He inspired Geeta to study in Atmanand Government English Medium School started in Gariaband and said that after getting education, go ahead and educate your entire village and society. He has asked Geeta to tell if there is any kind of problem, so that she can be helped immediately. Director of Social Welfare Department Shri P. Dayanand and departmental officers were present on this occasion.
Her father Shri Devi Ram Gond and brother Shri Tesram, who accompanied Geeta, also thanked the state government including the Chief Minister for their sensitivity and immediate help. Gita’s father Shri Devi Ram told that when Geeta was one month old, her feet were burnt due to the fire caused by the collapse of the chimney in the house. Even after getting treatment, the foot could not recover. Growing up, Geeta did not lose courage and when she did not have claws on her feet, she made the glass of water her paw. On the strength of her strength, she continued her studies along with her daily life activities like normal girls. He said that now he is very happy to see his daughter walking on his feet and his worries about Geeta’s future have gone away.
