Officers and employees doing remarkable work in tax collection will be rewarded

Such transport officers and employees of the districts who have done remarkable work in tax collection will be rewarded by the Transport Commissioner. Under the direction of Transport Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, revenue is being earned through constant efforts and hard work by the transport officers and enforcement officers of the headquarters and districts under the constant guidance of the Transport Secretary and the Transport Commissioner. According to the information received from the Transport Department, to prevent loss of revenue, the work of collecting more and more revenue is being done by issuing notices through newspapers and establishing personal contact by the list of tax defaulters. If even after that, the tax defaulter vehicle owners do not show interest in depositing tax, then legal proceedings are being initiated against those tax defaulter vehicle owners for attachment of vehicles under the ‘Land Revenue Code’. It is noteworthy that with the aim of providing convenience to the vehicle owners, the ‘one-time settlement’ scheme was implemented by the government in the year 2021-22 from 13 September 2021 to 31 March 2022. Under which Rs 20.50 crore outstanding tax has been recovered from 2 thousand 135 vehicles. Apart from this, the remaining 2 thousand 37 vehicles have been confiscated, the recovery of which is pending. Continuous action is being taken by the Chhattisgarh Transport Department to control the overloaded goods vehicles and various crimes. For this, 16 transport checkposts and 7 transport flying squads are being operated by the department. A total revenue of Rs 1373.91 crore was earned by the Transport Department in the financial year 2021-22. In which a revenue of Rs 196.64 crore has been earned from fee, Rs 193.61 crore from settlement fee/fine, Rs 983.66 crore from tax-lifetime tax, monthly tax and quarterly tax. Similarly, revenue of Rs 1147.92 crore has been earned from these items in the year 2020-21. In comparison, in the financial year 2021-22, revenue of Rs 1373.91 crore was earned, with an increase of 19.69 percent, Rs 225.99 crore more revenue was earned. Similarly, in the financial year 2020-21, Rs 71.06 crore was earned by transport checkposts and transport flying squads from 3 lakh 16 thousand 249 vehicles. In the same financial year 2021-22, a revenue of Rs 165.60 crore was earned by doing challan proceedings under 6 lakh 26 thousand 605 overloaded freight vehicles and miscellaneous offences. There are many old monthly, quarterly tax dues in the state. In the year 2021-22, Rs 22.04 crore has been recovered from 480 vehicles by the transport officers of the districts. Apart from this, dues of Rs 3.55 crore have been collected from 588 vehicles by running the campaign from March 12, 2022 to March 31, 2022. According to the information received from the department, non-tax paying vehicles have been seized in many companies and factories including Jaiswal, NECO, SKS, Sarthak Ispat, Godavari Ispat, Hitech Yard, Sharda Energy Siltra. The transport department owes about Rs 50 lakh to these vehicle owners. Similarly, 78 vehicles of various finance companies have been seized and parked. Apart from this, notices have been issued for the vehicles parked in the yard. Notices have been issued to the finance companies to deposit the tax of the seized vehicles parked in the yards. Such vehicles are also included, which were parked in their yards by the financiers without paying the installment. 6 lakh 32 thousand 7 hundred rupees have been recovered by the department from 763 vehicles operating passenger vehicles without permit. Apart from this, action has been taken to confiscate 6 passenger vehicles without permit. By taking continuous action in these 4 thousand 259 vehicles, such vehicles which are operating without paying tax, tax of Rs 27.87 crore has been recovered, remaining 1037 vehicles have been confiscated, their recovery is pending.
