Raipur, 27 November 2024/ National Games of Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being organized in the capital Raipur. Sports competitions will be held from 15 to 19 December. This time Chhattisgarh has got the hosting of the National Games. For the successful organization of these games, a meeting of the State Level Organizing Committee constituted for organizing the Eklavya Model Residential School Sports Competition was held here today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain. Shri Jain gave necessary guidelines regarding starting all necessary preparations for sports competitions, accommodation of players, transportation, sports venues, security arrangements, electricity and water and other arrangements.
Giving information regarding Eklavya Adarsh Residential School National Sports Competition, Principal Secretary of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department, Mr. Sonmani Bora said that the aim is to identify, hone and encourage the sports talent of Scheduled Tribe students, so that they can compete on various platforms. They get an opportunity to showcase their abilities and their talent can be given a new dimension by promoting the culture of sports. He told that about 23 sports will be organized in sports competitions. These include archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, gymnastics, judo, yoga, tennis, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, weight lifting, wrestling. Freestyle, basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball are included. In sports competitions, 15 individual and doubles and 7 group games will be organised. National sports competitions will be held in the playgrounds of various educational institutions and sports departments located in the capital Raipur. About 6 thousand players from 25 states will participate in the competition. Registration of competitors will be done online through the portal. He said that about 26 committees of various departments have been formed for the successful organization of the competition. In this meeting organized through video conferencing, Shri Himshikhar Gupta, Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, along with representatives of School Education, Higher Education, Public Health and Family Welfare, Sports and Youth Welfare, Public Works, Urban Administration, Tourism, Culture and Tribal Affairs of the Government of India.
