The positive result of the government’s ambitious Narva Abhiyan in the direction of water conservation is being shown to the villagers of the district. According to the concept that water is life, the important task of saving the drain water and making it useful for the fulfillment of its needs is being done with the help of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The Tamdu Nala flowing in villages like Labda, Jokpani, Putki and Boda three of the Vananchal area development block in Kabirdham district can be seen flowing in the middle of February. The work of saving 7.23 km long drain under Narva Abhiyan has been done with Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme. A large population of the area is benefiting directly from this drain flowing in 5.03 km revenue area and 2.2 km forest area. The need of water for farming farming has been the old demand of the villagers that is why the availability of water has been increased for three months of the year by renovating the Tamdu drain flowing in Vananchal village Labda, Jokpani, Putki, and Boda.
Details of work done in Tamdu Nala under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme36 lakh 48 thousand rupees have been approved for a total of 18 works including loose boulder checkdem, gabion structure, private dubri, plantation. So far, the villagers engaged in Narva work got paid wages of Rs 5 lakh 32 thousand while spending Rs 5 lakh 40 thousand in this work. 2800 man-days of employment have been provided to the villagers of Labda, Jokpani, Putki, and Boda. Due to the renovation work done by MNREGA, water is available abundantly in Tamdu Nala, which remains a means of irrigation for the villagers.
