Raipur. In view of the increasing population, crime and traffic pressure of the capital, Raipur MP Brijmohan Agrawal has written a letter to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai on Saturday. Through the letter, he has demanded immediate recruitment to vacant posts in the police department to strengthen the law and order of Raipur and Raipur districts and improve the traffic system. Along with this, there is a need to approve additional police force for the capital.
The MP wrote in the letter that the population in the capital has crossed 16 lakhs and urban expansion is taking place all around. New methods of crime are coming out, cybercrime has also increased rapidly. At present, a total of 3805 posts of Police Department are approved in Raipur district, out of which 796 posts are vacant. Out of 2738 posts of constable, only 2007 have been filled, while 731 posts are vacant. The current force in proportion to the population is inadequate, due to which the efficiency of the police is being affected and the public is being inconvenienced.
He also informed that according to the year 2023, the population of Raipur district has increased to about 30 lakhs and the number of vehicles registered in the district has reached about 18 lakhs. For the traffic branch of Raipur, 2388 police forces are needed as per BPR&D D. standards, while currently only 416 personnel are employed. He has demanded the Chief Minister to recruit immediate recruitment to vacant posts and approve 1972 new posts in the traffic branch, so that the traffic management can improve.
Brijmohan Agrawal also mentioned in the letter that he had drawn attention to this subject in the past and now it is necessary that quick action should be taken in this direction.
