Keyboard training for visually impaired children with smartphones – Lok Shakti.in

In Chhattisgarh, efforts are being made to connect disabled children with the mainstream of education by creating a barrier-free environment. For this, an innovative effort has been implemented in collaboration with the organization M. Junction, Kolkata, to overcome the problems faced by blind children studying in state schools. Under inclusive education, blind children are being given keyboard training with smart phones. In the training program, visually impaired children were taught to start and stop, unlock and use smart phones, gestures in smart phones, double tap, unlock, l. Training is being imparted about gestures, back gestures, notification gestures, navigation gestures. With the joint effort of Samagra Shiksha and Kolkata’s institution, a training program has been organized from December 19 to 22 at Nimora in the capital. In this, 59 children from 9 districts were given training on 19th and 20th December. And on December 21 and 22, training will be given to 56 children from other nine districts. On Tuesday, December 20, officers also participated in the training program and took information about the training program. Chhattisgarh will be the first state to provide keyboard training with smart phones to visually impaired children. In the training, blind children are also being given the practice of reading, including downloading books from book share. All the blind children involved in this program participated with enthusiasm. Smartphones are being provided to the visually impaired children who are benefiting from the programme, so that the children will be able to give written test themselves in future. BRP trained in the program (Inclusive Education) the blind children selected at the district level are continuously being supported by monitoring regarding the use of accessible text books in smart phones. In future, blind children of other classes studying in the school will be benefited from this scheme.
