Jaggi murder case: All five accused, who got relief from Supreme Court, surrender, prepare to enter jail

Shivam Mishra, Raipur. Five accused in the famous Jaggi murder case of Chhattisgarh have surrendered in Raipur court today after getting extension from the Supreme Court. Two accused had earlier surrendered in the case. Today, after the surrender of Mayor Ajaz Dhebar’s brother Yahya Dhebar, the then CSP Amritsingh Gill, the then police station in-charge VK Pandey, the then crime branch officer RC Trivedi along with Suryakant Tiwari have surrendered. All have surrendered in the court of Special Judge Atrocity. Preparations are being made to send everyone to jail.

So far, a total of 7 convicts have surrendered in the case, including Chiman Singh, Vinod Singh Rathore, Suryakant Tiwari, Yahya Dhebar, police officers RC Trivedi, Amritsingh Gill and VK Pandey.

The 27 convicts in the Jaggi murder case were to surrender in the Raipur District Court on April 15, but before that, the Supreme Court had given relief to Raipur Mayor Ejaz Dhebar’s brother Yahya Dhebar and others and gave them three weeks’ additional time to surrender. According to the information, this order was passed by the bench of Justice SVN Bhati.

Ramavatar Jaggi was murdered in 2003

On June 4, 2003, the NCP leader was shot dead. 31 accused were made in this case, out of which two Vikram Sharma alias Baltu Pathak and Surendra Singh became government witnesses. Case started against 29 accused. Except the main accused in this case, Amit Jogi, son of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, the remaining 27 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment. Apart from two then CSPs and a then police station in-charge, Raipur Mayor Ajaz Dhebar’s brother Yahya Dhebar and shooter Chiman Singh are also included among those who got life imprisonment.
