International Women’s Day: A glimpse of the empowered women of Chhattisgarh seen in Mahila Madai

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia inaugurated the four-day Mahila Madai at BTI Ground, Shankar Nagar, Raipur today. Here the materials manufactured by women self-help groups and women entrepreneurs from different districts of the state will be put up and sold. Rajya Sabha MP Duo Smt. Chhaya Verma, Smt. Jyotsna Mahant, Chairperson of Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission Dr. Kiranmayi Nayagak, Dharsiwa MLA Smt. Anita Yogendra Sharma and District Panchayat President of Raipur Smt. Domeshwari Verma also attended the inauguration of Madai. The Mahila Madai organized by the Department of Women and Child Development will run till March 08. Mrs. Bhendia bought many items including dung-dung skirting, phenyl, herbal soap, mother-child painting, candles from the Madai. He said that the state government has prepared many new avenues to make women self-reliant. In this shed, a clear glimpse of the empowering steps and self-reliant life of the women of Chhattisgarh will be visible. With this, women’s groups and entrepreneurs will get a platform and a new identity. The products manufactured by women’s groups in Madai attracted the attention of all the women leaders. All the leaders including the Minister Smt. Bhendia bought various items from the Madai and appreciated the goods manufactured by the women’s groups. Everyone tasted and appreciated the haldi ladoos made by the women’s group from Korea, the jalebi made from ragi-jaggery by the Anubhav women’s group from Raigad and the papad chaat made by the women’s group from Mugeli. All the leaders also bought silk earrings made by Roshni Divyang Women’s group of Raipur. He also enjoyed cultural programs with Rachuli Jhoola in Madai.
